As pointed out by someone, Mami may have been rescued by Homura especially after the big ep 6 reveal.

The reveal also casts light on whether Mami knew the fact. If so, her desire to have a companion makes sense as if she dies, her companion can take her gem out of the witch dimension. And as Madoka would be the strongest MS, she would be as safe as she could be.

Yes i considered that as one possibility but a close look at the picture i linked seems to show 2 things in her hand, ie the grief seed could be the thing in front of the soul gem.

Still an animation error could still be the reason, though it must as be factored that the particular error's choice of color would be interesting.

I wonder sometimes if shaft isn't just making mistakes on purpose just to throw us off

I'd also like to add that contrarly to Sayaka who always stayed in her magical girl form,mami's body transformed back into her normal self when she got eaten,implying that the source of her magical power had been distroyed

Nah, shaft is just bad. Their shows are often good in spite of them not because of them.

Sayaka was in normal form the entire time so I don't think that proves anything though I tend to believe Mami is dead and going to stay that way.

She's effectively KIA/BNR (Killed in Action, Body Not Recovered). I'm sorry.

You know that awkward clinking sound you hear just after Charlotte moves over Mami's head and the camera immediately cuts to the keyhole on Homura's bindings? That was the sound of Mami's Soul Gem shattering in Charlotte's mouth, hence Mami's sudden de-transformation.

Because the way she's killed has resounding effects on the plot.

Even in death, she is a relevant character.

Better dead than alive in this case.

Keep in mind that even if she wasn't dead, she would have been caged inside the witch dimension which soon after ceased to exist. Eternal imprisonment is probably worse than immediate decapitalization.

ive basically taken the majority of the opening, ie the part with madoka sitting in the desk and kyubey off to the right with big images changing in the middle, (or i guess solely that part) are what Madoka thinks would happen if they were all PM, but by then she already knows what it means and gets noticeably sadder as images change

I am disappointed that Mami-san was too optimistic as episodes are being accumulated.
I clearly remember she would be happy if Madoka became Puella Magi,
though her body would be dead in the view point of episode 6.
In addition, poor Mami-san believed fucking kyu-bey was a good friend of her

Of course, these are not her fault because she just didn't know the truth.
Mami-san is still my best favorite character considering she was too optimistic.

After she sees what happens to Sayaka and learns the truth for herself, she regretfully tries to end the younger girls' misery so they don't have to grow up and share the same fate. In a way, she killed Kyoko to protect her.
