After Onda Aka, my great inspiration muse for winter 2006 was the white haired Momo, from Shinigami no Ballad

For a few months, I've only had her on my profile as avatar and signature. Unfortunately, this is all I've produced about Momo, since the anime didn't give her much screen time.

§ These were all avatars that I used

§ <--- (not AS friendly, this is an upgraded version of avatar 1 which I used as profile picture)

§ A freebie

§ Signatures. Even there, I used all of them . On a side note, this was the moment where I consistently started to make animated siggies.

Ah, this sure brings back memories. If you ask me, my preferred among the avatars was the first one, whist on the signs my favorite is the third. But I love them all a lot, they represent almost 3 months of my life in this forum

Next update: aliens, time travelers, espers. In five words: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Thank you. It's a peculiar kind of anime, not everyone's cup of tea probably but it's so short (6 episodes) that I don't think giving a shoot at it would hurt

Yes, I do sleep It's the work of 18 months after all. So just a small part of it is devoted to avatar making. ^^

Those of RM are 301. For those of Fsn, you need to count since I have no clues :x

Good lord, your Gif/Avatar folder must be infinite by now 0_o. Thats one motherload of avatars you have there. I knew you had made loads of them, but damn ... i didn't realize there were so many of them

In short - i am impressed

A question - how many avatars (static and animated) you have made altogether ? approximately at least

Making statics isn't that hard ~ presuming you have the pics to make them from.
Here's a tutorial Icy

Let's see ~ to put this all into perspective 100 animated gifs = 5000 statics.
Taking it at normal human pace approximately 3-4days to make & upload.
( I'm very serious about this )

The only reason you aren't seeing people like me posting 5k sets is because there haven't been series to reach that kind of level and I'm not really a image-hunter, I like to collect in huge batches as it's less troublesome in a way.

- - - - -
Pell, I love your new sig what was that scene about ~ I forgot.
I rate it Top Notch ~ I know you don't visit the Rating threads any mo~ so that's why I'm rating it here.

Hehe thanks for the tutorial though I prefer to make moving avatars more. That's why I don't have any statics yet

BTW: Pellie I would rate your siggy 10/10 too haha gj gj (tried making a moving sig and did not do so well ) Can't get the siggies to the right size

Anyways great job and hope to see more work from you again

In the Index Riker's Tutorial on Optimizing.
Also you can always brush to even out colors in the sig ~
As long as your are resizing it eventually it will not be noticed ~

Also animated sig generally don't have more then 4 frames (if they're big) so layer-mask + some brushing on the BG isn't that hard.
If you remove the BG you got lotz of interesting possibilities too ~

Good Luck Icy ~

Sorry for disturbing your thread Pelly.

I don't know, really. Counting static and animated, it might be a number around one thousand. As said, I keep on the same folder either duplicates and psd files, so it's difficult to make a precise calculation.

She's right. Take the RM avatars. I spent more time in seeking the right pictures and on the uploading phase, than on the actual production of them.
If you're a bit skilled and experienced, just some predefined settings and at that point you'll create a new avatar with just a click.

She's serious but not human
Perhaps those number might be true, but personally I become tired after 2 max 3 hours of work, so at that point I stop. It'd be impossible to me to come up with such high numbers in such a limited period of time.

Ah, it's one of the favorite scene of the whole Lucky Star
It's at the end of episode 7, when Konata draws her pals (since they were talking about her joining the manga club).
When Kagami sees the image Konata has of her:

She says: "Oh, so I can breath fire, heh?", then she has the expression of my sign, and finally goes into dragon mode, actually spitting fire:

That scene definitely never fails to crack me up!

I liked it as a sign because it had the three major character all together with Kagami on the center of the spotlights, just how I like it
Plus, with a small amount of work (and an excellent source, EnA fansubs) I had a chance to set all the configurations at max value while staying under the limit

Aye. Making a Static Avatar is tons easier than making an Animated Avatar. Personally, for myself, I try to refrain from making Static Avatars for reasons of my own. Static Avatars to me, are a last resort if animation is not possible (whether due to technical impossibilities or difficulties).

One of the pros of using Static Avatars is that you are not restricted to the GIF format and you can retain a much higher quality while staying within the filesize limit.

Cheers.

The only difficult part of a static avatar, other than finding a good image or capture, is the crop.
I also am not really fond of static avatars. If there's a scene where the animation isn't possible I'd rather skip it instead of making a static. That is, unless exceptional cases.
It's the same reason I don't use static signs, it's true that I'm not very friendly with filters and brushes, but on the other hand I also never seriously tried to learn them. To me, an animated image communicates a lot more on just too many levels

That for sure ^^ , there's no such a thing as "should I use 128 colors, or 64? But it sucks if it isn't 256!" , in the static avatar land you directly put a png-24 and it's settled ^_^

You know, sometimes it seems that you know more about me than myself o_O (gomen for late reply, honestly I've seen this sentence just now ^^)

Anyway, since this became the "page of the statics", and since I talked of Suzumiya Haruhi, just a minor related update. This was made from a Megami scan
