Alternate TV Shows that Never Were:

Yeniçeri Kronikler, localized as Janissary Chronicles, is an Ottoman animated series developed by the famous Constantinople-based animation studio Fantezi. It featured a production team led by director Mehmet Oz, character designer Ana Kasparian, and mechanical designer Cenk Uygur. Janissary Chronicles was the first time where Oz was given a directorial role after he was praised for his great contribution to the critically acclaimed Ottoman animated film Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam, localized as The Man Who Saved the World. It was broadcast on Stamboul TV on September 14th, 2009 and ran for a total of eighty five episodes until its conclusion on May 5, 2010.

The story is set in the Ottoman Empire during the Mahmud-ı sānī Era, with an anachronistic, predominately jazz and blues, setting. It begins with a young woman named Aisha working in a coffee shop in Salonika when she is harassed by a band of klephts. She is saved by Rüstem, a mysterious former Janissary, and Konstantin, a young, rash rogue. Konstantin and Rüstem attack one another after the latter proves to be a worthy opponent and they begin dueling one another and accidentally cause the death of Darim, the son of a prominent and wealthy Aga. For this crime they are sentenced to be executed though Aisha helps them escape from prison, on the condition that they would accompany her in a journey to find "the Janissary that smells of daisies." They agree, with Aisha setting the condition that they are not to exchange blades until their journey has come to an end.

Janissary Chronicles is critically acclaimed, and the series was dubbed into the English language and licensed by Iwerks Entertainment for releases in North America. Fleischers Studios began licensing the series after Iwerks ceased production of its titles, in addition to it being licensed in numerous other countries by a bunch of distributors.
