It's less that Reiji is rash and more Luang was that good: he immediately knew the Absorb Shield's weakness (i.e. it can't do anything fancy to physical weapons) and spammed missiles against it while keeping Reiji occupied. Besides, the weakness this episode was already hinted at last episode: note Build Strike avoiding missiles and bullets instead of tanking it.

Pretty sure that's the point: "Meijin Kawaguchi" in BF is a direct reference to Katsumi Kawaguchi, who's a renowned Gunpla expert. IIRC he was so good that he gained the title "Master", and he's now under Bandai's employ.

I know, but it resulted in Reiji being rash. Maybe Luang wouldn't have had time to fire the missiles at the same time if Mao had the chance to properly back Reiji up or Mao would have been able to shoot the missiles down. Who knows if Reiji didn't go out on his own.

Reiji has to keep in mind the weakness of the shield and not expose it like he did for a good analyzer like Luang.

Being rash is a major part of Reiji's personality in just about everything though, much like how Sei is shy but skilled in Gunpla or Fellini is a suave ladykiller.

and it'll be the end of em sooner than later if Reiji didn't tone down that rashness...
against a vet or calculating nerds, Star Build Strike will surely have a rought time going against them... especially if the opponent is Aila and Yuuki... rashness will the for sure the end of them...

This episode was so many levels of awesome that it would take too much space to cover them all in detail.

Top points:

A forced atmospheric re-entry on a massive ground/sky/space field. it had to be done.

Bringing in Axel Almer's voice actor to play the German guy was hilarious awesome sauce.

And HY2M Zaku II. Good God.

He would just retreat. He's smart enough.

And remember Luang's first missile barrage. You didn't see when did he launch them. Mao doesn't have anything to anti the missile either.

In other words, if Reiji didn't rash, nothing would happen.

I would also like to note that unless the Star Build has another mode, they are in big trouble against Aila later on due to the type of funnels she uses

Star Build Strike has 3 modes but I believe they all have to be powered by shield absorbs.

The Sengoku Astray, the Qubeley's explosive bits, and the Kampfer are going to be the hard suits to combat. Wtb Phase Shift armor!

Wing and X are all beam weapon users.

Sunrise and Bandai after this ep I swear I'm gonna make a cult and worship your godly awesomeness! GBF a kids show? Utter crap? Are those people blind? This is arguably one of the best shows the Gundam franchise has offered in a while. And I'm loving every bit of it!

Love that Aila blush! And lol at the "Reiji ate Ailas nikuman" innuendo they had going there. And this is supposedly a kids show. Then again most kids wont get it anyway. Or will they?

Given how that guy from PPSE smile at the end of episode, I'd think that belongs to the organizer to prevent all player hiding without fighting.

Actually, Banrise was skeptical that this will be popular amongst kid, kids these days only in for card games and monsters, period. But despite that they went all out anyway, and as the result Build Fighter became high budget anime that spares NOTHING about fandom's taste, that is, the old geezers and the kids inside them.

(Also why they can get away with, well, every subtle fanservice they can cram in)
