Well it depends , there are actually a few ones where the main point are insults or various jokes made on you, though they are still normal restaurants. As for Ramsay I don't know much since i don't live in his country but i heard he was sued once for insulting vegetarians. Still when your name is really big (name of the chef itself that is, not of the restaurant ) then you can allow a few arguments with normal clients, not the same could be said for culinary critics of VIPS

I think we reached that point long ago with the foodgasms^^;;. It's best not to compare these kinds of series with anything IRL. If you try to put logic into anything that doesn't require it, it'll ruin the experience without fail.

It REALLY depends on where you're dining/working at. As others have said, the chef mainly interacts with the people under him, not the clients - for someone to want to see the chef, they must have a serious complaint. An esteemed chef will rarely be interrupted or called out and even if they do trace flaws in a dish, they would usually talk with their crew over it (thus the customers would get an apology and the staff would get some serious shit from the chef).

Of course, if I go out at a local third rate store and start dissing the chef, it could result in a brawl/foodfight.

You guys are talking about different things. There's being as asshole to your subordinates and colleagues, and being an asshole to your clients. The latter might work for dominatrices, but not much else. As for the former, it depends. But yeah, in some circumstances, you can afford it. And as a restaurant customer, would I care if the chef is an asshole to his people, his neighbors, his family? I'd never find out. Why would I?

And note, the only one we've seen who's an asshole to his clients is Ryo. But that can be explained by his catering to thugs with different codes than "polite society". They seem to think it's acceptable.

As for Erina... we've only seen her serve other Jump heroines, and she was polite enough.

Also, we've seen plenty of scandals of star athletes or performers behaving badly, up to and including criminal behavior, without it impacting their career negatively. Because they sports so well, or sing so well, or whatever. Then fans (the ones buying the merchandise) will always find all sorts of excuses for them.

People tend to take things to far in this serie, either a character do something, someone react like this or that or whatever may happen in the chapter. Dont know how someone can enjoy this while acting like that, remember that this is a shonen.

I never would have thought the most controversial part of this series would be the rival/eye-candy princess. I've pretty much been skipping through all the Erina debating due to the circular nature and constant bickering.

The students have to form groups and compete between those groups, the winning group earns some sort of priviledge
Souma and the other Polar Star Dorm members form a group but each group can only submit one dish so they decide to try making a dish which makes the best of each of the members unique strengths

Hisako is perplexed at the incredible motivation Erina shows towards the festival
Erina is a first year, but being in the elite ten she normally would have to be part of the organizers, but she asked the other elite ten members to let her participate and is aiming for victory with Hisako
