That's just my guess though. I'm not too familiar with "otaku culture".

@dragon1412 because he basically brought up an NTR possibility. Regardless that Restia could probably take him apart if he tried, even the mention of that kind of scenario sets me off. Read the old DxD thread, you'll see what I mean.

And as for why her character type is liked, I have a theory about that. "Yamato Nadeshiko" the ideal Japanese woman, was supposed to be a quiet, submissive, yet strong-willed woman. So I think the whole "loud, independent, and hides her true feelings" type (tsundere) caught on because of the contrast. And it was a good excuse for authors to do mean things to their MC's (lol)

"Loud" is inadequate as they never speak their true thought. "Violence" and "rude/impolite" are more suitable. "Bad at communicating" is better than "hides her true feelings". Because they don't intentionally hide their feeling for any purpose, they just can't express their feeling due to their own incompetent and pride. "Yamato Nadeshiko" is submissive (subtle/quite as well are part of their art to please their husband), supportive("behind every success man, there is a woman"), strong-willed/independent(when needed like raising children alone when her husband dies) woman. If there is a type of character that is opposite "Yamato Nadeshiko", that is "assertive" character with: aggressive/out-going(>< submissive), wild/open (do whatever she like>< supportive) and strong-willed(the same). BUT "Tsudere" is not the main theme for Claire. (Or i thought so...) It's more of the bonus characteristic IMO. And it is not the main reason why i hate her. She is a freaking "damsel in distress". P.S. "monster" means strength beyond what a human could achieve, not his personality.

"Sometimes one character (usually a Love Interest or a relative of another character) seems to have no discernible purpose besides serving as the Designated Victim. If the character is popular with the audience, this can be effective. Other times, well....let's just say that the audience starts wishing that the Big Damn Heroes would get stuck in traffic, just so they won't have to put up with her anymore. " (For Claire, it would be the latter case.) "Most of the time, this character's plight is due entirely to her own stupidity. She doesn't just pick up the Distress Ball, she runs it into her own endzone and gets tackled for a safety. And she keeps on doing it, again and again and again. This may be due to being The Ditz, or a severe case of crippling genre blindness." This definition is exclusive for Claire and Claire only. No other girls has it. |

See?
I knew it. I knew it. No matter how absurd and unrealistic a character is, someone still like her. Your reference. What can i say? (Still don't know why some people may like her.) |
