I only watched the first 5? episodes of Zettai Karen Children and didn't like it much. Watched this Unlimited first episode and it was probably the only anime this winter that I'm sort of excited about. I'm kind of hoping it continues with the more serious, evil organization route instead of the wacky stuff I saw in the main series.

The fact that UNLIMITED is actually a 'limiter release' ( catchy ) is actually a rather big plot revelation, if this is 100% true to canon.
It kind of implies that Hyoubu's 'awakening' to his powers after being shot in the head had its side-effects, causing him to not be able to stop a constant outburst of power, since it looks like his raw esper power pours out the moment he's released. And it may actually tie back to that one scene long time back, where Hyoubu was shown to be 'sick' of sorts. And it actually explains why ECM has very minimal effects on Hyoubu... he's kinda already placing rather large limiters on himself 24/7. I'm actually a bit interested to see how the ZKC's core cast react to this matter, personally.

You know ... I will say it again, I am usually not one for "badassery" or whatever, but there is something about this series that has caught my attention for some reason. :\

I'm warming up to this story now thanks to a well-rounded cast of supporting characters. I don't think I'd be able to last a handful of episodes with just Hyoubu and Andy hogging the spotlight. As long as it doesn't take itself too seriously, it should be a fun watch.

EP3 was enjoyable, I got a really ZKC feeling out of it somehow.
Also, Nazuka Kaori! Animation quality staggers a bit though. And I still can't imagine who they're aiming this at, it's promoted as a separate story but I feel it's too entrenched in ZKC lore, especially in terms of character motivation, to really stand on its own feet, and now they're pretty much bringing the BABEL with little to no explanation. Oh btw Aya confirmed! |

Probably my favorite episode so far, since the increased focus on Yugiri and the presence of BABEL put it a little closer to the original series that I enjoyed so much. Though next week looks to be even closer to that mark. It also confirms this series is taking place during their middle school phase, around the time of the OVA instead of the TV series. (That OVA seems like it was so long ago...)

I guess I'll have to be the dissenting voice and say I didn't like it nearly as much as the previous two episodes. Honestly, I found it almost difficult to get through the episode. I have watched the original ZKC anime, but I never liked it much so I was enjoying a different take on the same premise. Now that they're converging I find the whole thing kind of pointless. Well, that's just me.

Fun episode. It's not really ZKC without Hyoubu messing with Minamoto. Well, the villain of the week was pretty disappointing though. He might as well sport a long twirly mustache, a monocle, and start laughing diabolically.
The episode preview, on the other hand, has me all hyped up for a showdown between BABEL and PANDRA. Aside from the reintroduction of the Children, looks like we'll be seeing Fujiko again. This is going to be cool.
