They should have made 7 episodes of this ova series, and with the gap of three months. Hopefully it will be followed by Oz of the reflection anime series ( not ova this time, ova's take too long ).

Hoping all the best for the staffs of this ova series, and hopefully the series will be an anime legend.

While I'd like to share monir's optimistic views and hopeful expectations on the future evolution and execution of the Akito OVA, in contrast with his accompanying statements about the previous Code Geass series that are fully understandable but only partially shared in my honest opinion, I think we should always try to keep in mind that the announced length of this new OVA is probably going to remain more of a persistent double-edged sword than anything else, at least until the finished product has been delivered.

There's a very real need to balance the available amount of time with the requirements of the story, regardless of the stylistic approaches chosen by the creative team. In this case, there aren't going to be too many extra opportunities to get the finer points across, especially once episode two eventually becomes a thing of the past, and soon enough it will start to be necessary to make an explicit emphasis on a particular character flaw or its related issues. The more blatant developments may come when there's no additional time to simply rely on a slow, careful build-up process. Depending on how much information we receive after the next episode has been released, there should be more of a proper basis to estimate what is or isn't likely to happen in this respect.

Kazuki Akane is, of course, a director with more of a stylistic sensibility for the subtle than Goro Taniguchi, but even in his past full-length series there have been some events that can be classified as sudden, over-the-top or melodramatic by the audience, in both a positive and a negative sense. Certainly not reaching the same concentration of plot twists as what the later episodes of Geass demonstrated, which was exaggerated even for someone like me who does not automatically dislike nor dismiss such things, but it's a precedent that should be kept in mind before one assumes nothing too controversial will occur here. Particularly since some warning cries have already been heard elsewhere from those who apparently find the portrayal of the Japanese and their plight in Akito to be more nationalistic and offensive than anything seen in the original show, for example, although I personally disagree with that view. It's especially difficult to deal with that sort of subject matter in a way all of us will consider adequate, and something one person rejects as out-of-line might well fall within the limits of another's tolerance. Again, it's difficult to argue too much about this topic without knowing how it's going to be addressed later on.

In terms of a different type of content, what I'm expecting from episode two is that Akito's flaws will emerge relatively naturally once he's put into conflict with those around him and has to deal with more of a challenge on the battlefield at roughly the same time, but I will not be too surprised if we are still left with a few questions along the way...which will either be directly answered in a short time or may well face the risk of remaining open-ended.

The differences are two:

1)different equipment
2)every kmf has a different face

But for the rest, totally similar with alexander-1.

The text mentions improvements, so nope.

Hopefully Eternal Dreamer sheds some light onto this

As previously mentioned, only the first one.

To be specific, the second episode was delayed from Spring 2013 (which would be right around the corner) to Summer 2013.

There's a recent trailer, but no more details have been released.

By the way, I've been slowly making it through most of Yamato 2199 in the meanwhile. Great stuff.

Thank you for the info Xander.

Oh and SBY 2199 is freaking awesome sauce right now. I'm totally hooked on it, can't wait for the next four episodes.
As busy as I am right now I have made a time to watch all the eps.
I know where to get them ALL, if you PM me I'll let you know.

Since there was nothing on this month's anime magazines, Akito OVA 2 will be mostly an August or September release...

The first OVA was okay, it was too similar to the original series in scope. Plus, I feel like the lead is a more sadistic, but carbon copy of Suzaku (wanting to die and being a domineering badass in combat). All in all, an okay start.
