Ack! When I came back and scrolled up after reading your reply, it was spinning the other direction, but then I looked away and lost it again, lol. It felt very weird; I'm guessing it all depends on which leg you perceive is higher than the other.... well, I can't seem to get the other perception back at will.

WAIT, IS THAT A NAKED WOMAN? WOOT!
( Means I use the HENTAI side of the brain more often. ) Anyway, I'm a lefty, and I've known that for a while. But I was pretty freaked out once I closed my eyes and could see her turning clockwise for a while. That's one interesting gif you got there.

The trick to flipping the rotation is seeing whether or not the angled leg is spinning (or other feature) going
Left--->Right or Right--->Left Basically it depends on which side of the body you use as the "starting point." The leg will either swing starting from one half of the pic to the other half. Basically, if you want it to go clockwise chant: "Right, Left: Right, Left: ad nauseum." And vice versa. Last edited by Twisted Reality; 2008-01-03 at 02:39. |

Sooooooo, how do I look at it to get the lights to turn on? Priorities, you know since the direction of spin is irrelevant to the architectural appreciation

EDIT: The figure also bobs up and down. This sets a "rhythm" that forces you to do a right-left or left-right two beat interpretation. It pretty much forces you to process only two frames of reference. |

This was actually in the newspaper, giving a link to it, but it was much slower.
I actually had it going half-half at first, then now going anti-clockwise. Though, it's rather easy to change when it's slower, imo. (Btw, when you say 'half-half' you do mean by going a quarter clockwise and then a quarter anti right?) |

It is after all just an optical illusion, the brain perceives the image as turning one way or the other. |
