If they can't appreciate Nekki Basara, then their testicles were surgically removed.
Don't worry.

The problem is, one of them (who gave me the harshest treatment) was a girl .

Maybe not today but I still remember I was bullied for liking Gundam Seed just for its production qualities(of its time) and mech designs. I'm not even touching the plot and characters yet.

I experienced it myself sometime ago in a certain Macross thread. Yeah that's normal don't worry its not you and just be grateful you didnt say something like preferring ranka lee to sheryl nome. I'm a macross fan and want nothing to do with the forum because of all the super aggressive Sheryl fanboys that take it way to far. It makes the gundam forum look inviting by comparison because while there's some tough guys there (myself included I'll admit) that will make you justify your opinion there's at least some respect for those with different ones and you're still allowed to have them is the feeling.

Moar titles:

Yumekui Merry

Itsuka Tenma No Kuro Usagi

Arghhhhh it displeases me so that so many people HATE and bash on these two anime that I ADORE.
No, I didn't read the source material (novels/manga).
I don't give a f*ck. I watched them knowing nothing about them and I ENJOYED EVERY SECOND. SO SUE ME!
They are wonderful as stand-alones-just leave them alone, please!?

To be honest, I started reading the manga of both and feel "meh it's okay...sucks that Yumeji looks like that but" with Merry, but Itsuten?
HATE.
That art is f*cking UGLY. At least it is for the first seven chapters. It must get a hell of a lot better if people don't like the anime. Himea looks ugly and Mirai looks ugly and ALL THE GIRLS look ugly and not cutesy at all. The anime's art was SCENERY PORN. The characters too....I have never in my life seen a more gorgeous female anime character than Saitohimea. I could not take my eyes off her amazing design!! *____* (so much that I customized a doll to look just like her. )

So yeah....these two amazing shows.....I loved them and no, the endings AREN'T satisfying....but I really appreciated what the 12 episodes offered. I had a really great time watching both of them....and I will get all the answers after the source material has been read LATER.

This one is very personal but Special A...

While I'm not very fond of shoujo genre but I rather watch this than any other shoujo shows out there, especially Ouran High School Host Club. I don't know how both shows have similarities except both about an average girl went into a high school for elites and quickly becoming one of the most popular student there. I think this is where most people are fooled.

I still remember how I was bullied for preferring this one than Ouran, even from the fanboys. Yes people can get very childish.

Machine Robo ~BOOM!!~ based on the same Bandai's toyline, but unfortunately became sort of an underdog because of Bandai's rival, TakaraTomy hogging all the spotlight with supahrobotoliformuTransformers,

which resulted in only producing 3 anime series: Revenge of Chronos, Battle Hackers, & Rescue...... then STOP FOR ETERNITY......

with the original american made LAME crap version litteraly only makes things WORST with ~DAA GOBOTS DAA GOBOTS!!~ MIGHTY (S#IT) ROBOTS, MIGHTY (F@CK) VEHICLES & they are NOT even ROBOTS at all but a bunch of ORGANIC aliens who became CYBORGS in order to survive through an apocaliptic event!!! YOU FAIL AT READING SIR!!!

which resulted in everybody in the west (with TRANSFORMERS fans) who saw a MACHINE ROBO product in the old original past previous & the recent new latest line says "LOOK ITS EH GOBOTZ, IT WILL SUUK LIKE @#$%!!!) despite it does not have a connection with that Tonka crap-ness at all!!! along with the original concept!!!

& NOT having a LATEST adaption YET!! there's still Mugenbine, Evolbine, Moebine, & (NEW!) Next.... missing off the charts!!! i want my childhood back!!!

I can say this one much earlier but....Yosuga no Sora.

It's true it isn't a masterpiece but it does had excellent production qualities. All seiyuu from the game also voiced their own character except for Haruka, who is a voiceless protagonist who played as. While not as good as most Sunrise and Bones shows in term of animation quality but it sure beat most of this year's show like Brave 10 and Kill Me Baby.

It's true it's not everyone cup of tea but I also wondering why people can accept gory violence of Higurashi, Another and Mirai Nikki but can't stand this one. Yes the sex scenes and nudity are explicit but from someone who saw both versions of TV(AT-X) and blu-ray it quite light. For example the blu-ray version of Princess Lover TV series had more nude scenes than entire Yosuga no Sora except YnS had more sex scenes.

The orignal game was for me at best above average. The only reason why i kept playing was for Sora >_>

As for the anime, edit: my problem was that it was rushed because it had an omnibus format

^The omnibus format didn't bother me though. It gave the opportunity to all girls to "win". Amagami SS had this too. As for Yosuga no Sora all other girls are winners although it pretty obvious Sora is the biggest winner of all. In Clannad, which didn't had this format, Kyou had to accept that she is the loser especially in the first season.

As for the ending of Sora's arc, it is beautiful and nicely done, regardless what happened to them earlier(warning, it had huge plothole in between. The last 3-4 minutes of the show is the best anime moment I ever saw and it haunts me in good way. Unfortunately it is destined to be forgotten by everyone since most people prefer School Days-style ending instead.

"Win" every girl at the expense of rushed story. I rather have one proper route rather than the "basic outline" of every route animated, that's why i am not fond of the omnibus style of story telling unless the budget is high enough for sufficient amount of episodes for every heroine.

Watching how the different episode directors/storyboard artists retold the same story was fascinating to me. And of course watching the frustration play out in the fanbase was also quite an experience. Maybe these aren't all the normal reasons to like something, but I was entertained. I will watch it again at some point; one of the most interesting (and controversial) modern art experiments of the last decade, in my view.
I didn't mind the Endless Eight because I enjoyed seeing many (sometimes very subtle) different styles. They got to play with lots of different outfits and even somewhat differing styles of character altogether. At least, that's how I remember it!

Its main problem, in my mind, is that it's simply generic. Not horrible, just completely run of the mill.
I actually liked Hidan no Aria because it was a KugiRie role that didn't involve her being a hardcore tsundere. Sure, Aria was still a bit of a tsundere, but I give that character credit for having some class! KugiRie's tsundere typecast makes me despise nearly every anime where she's the lead heroine. I honestly can't stand Toradora for this reason. Granted, Hidan no Aria was indeed generic and a bit strange considering the backstory of its characters, but it also had some genuinely interesting moments and the benefit of having good voice talent that wasn't typecast for once.

I have to agree with NK 500 in my preference for special A over Ouran High School.

Traece - I'm with you on the endless eight discussion. I also enjoyed trying to spot the differences in each episode and I even found the alterations in dialogue interesting.

This one is more "ignored" than "hated" actually and I'm talking about UFO Baby. Shoujo fans, hands up if you actually heard this one. I'm not surprised there aren't many.

Perhaps the reasons why it was ignored by shoujo audiences, especially English-speaking ones because it was primarily aimed towards 9-15 years old girls, lack of fabulous bishies(most of the male characters are qualified as bishies but they still far from fabulous) and no deep or emotional romances(just few blushes). Something it is easy to ignore a gem when it lacks of polishing.

Count me in for Hidan no Aria. I never understood what the rabid hate for it was all about. It wasn't as bad as others made it out to be, and I actually found Aria herself to be a likable character.

So, I'm thinking that some people were probably just tired of hearing another one of Rie Kugimiya's tsundere roles so soon when it aired.

Which is really unfair if that was the case because it's an external factor.

I'll have to admit to being really tired of the stereotypical Kugimiya Rie Tsundere while watching that show but I'll concede that the show wasn't half bad even if it felt a bit too generic.

*raises hand*
This one is really cute. But I prefer the manga because of how flat Miyuu's seiyuu is in the anime....>_> that kinda ruins it for me since she's the main character!

Kanata the boy, is a perfect representation of how I think bishies should look. Very cute....and still plenty boyish enough to avoid that 'girly' look.

DDD's an oldie! I remember reading it back in junior high!

Luckily for me, Aria was only the third loli tsundere Kugimiya I witnessed; the first two being Shana and Nagi and there was a significant time gap by the time I got to Aria-chan.

I don't think it's Aria that is hated about in Hidan no Aria. It's the ridiculous concepts and various moments of plot inconsistency that piss me off, especially when I came to the show expecting a world at par with Toaru Majutsu no Index.

And if for those who have read the later volumes of the light novels, it gets worse and worse.
