You do know that Japanese nomeculture has all merchant ships names ending in maru-
Oh. Sorry. I was missing the point. -__- Quote:
That said, the distinction between battleship and heavy cruiser was primarily armor, not guns: the Germans made a class of pocket battleships (CAs with BB guns) and the Americans had the Alaska-class cruiser, which was commonly called a battlecruiser and was often described as an overgrown heavy cruiser or small battleship... I'd think Bentenmaru, given that she appears to be smaller than Odette II, is probably in the DD to CA range in terms of tonnage, but with BB guns. That said, this is primarily guesswork as to the guns, until we have a proper yardstick. As for the class, however, generally FFs to CAs would engage in commerce raiding, since anything bigger wouldn't be fast enough to chase down fleeing merchies. In fact, given that convoy escorts would most likely be DDs, on account of the tin can being the workhorse of the navy, you're looking at needing CLs or CAs, really, since they can kill whatever they can't outrun and outrun whatever they can't kill. Wait, you're alive! Wow, hard to imagine it's been what, 4-5 years since I lost contact with you & DS... Anyway, that's a sweet recolor indeed. One of these days I've got to learn how to do that... -__-

Offtopic: Well, me and Angel13Bardiel are still alive and well down at Evageeks.org; some others (the elitist nutheads, but why should I care about them anymore?) are probably still at the usual spot, while some writers are probably around at Spacebattles.com. Ontopic: I like that Marika's pal gives Chiaki the lowdown and a few more facts about that girl's personality. Now that she's a working student juggling three areas of responsibility (school, maid cafe and privateering), someone should toss a bottle of Kamogawa energy glug to Marika. Anyone who is a fic writer should play up a comedy crossover with either Jack Sparrow or Mal Reynolds crossing paths with Marika. Would like to read that.

(Also, thank god we've got another healthy parent-child relationship. Damned few of those in TV that I can see. Probably count on one hand how many shows have positive, healthy relationships... Blue Bloods, Castle... Burn Notice? Yeah, I'm drawing a blank.) Quote:
Might work better if some of us knew the pun - small reference pools, y'know, and a fair number of us have only a passing familiarity with American pop culture.

Sparrow would be a tad too hilarious, but I can do Mal just fine... as long as someone can give me better lines.

Jack and Marika would be utterly hilarious to read. If somehow you got the Flying Dutchman into shape, you could also have a Will and Marika crossover there. I mean I could imagine that some fangirl would try to have a character played by Orlando Bloom in a crossover fic IN SPACE. Speaking of fanfic, I really need to start writing my Marika X Chiaki vinaigrettes/stories. I don't know if the Sea of the Morningstar has any natural satellites, but I was thinking of titling it "Can't Fight the Moonlight" for some reason. |

I'm having a bit of trouble trying to imagine calm, cool, collected Dark Queen Chiaki hopped up on energy drinks. Maybe she would order a cherry pie instead of a parfait. Or perhaps she would wear a light blue skirt instead of a black one.
Help me out here. Endless "Cherry" Soul

There is always Harlock.
Is it my imagination, or did the "missiles" fired by the bigger ship at Marika's fighter turn out to be fighters or drones? (the cylinders it launched).

I really hate having to wait a week to see what happens next in this series. It's driving me nuts. |

It is weird that we never saw what the missile did. Though I suppose that since it was Marika's dream, she doesn't know what they would do yet either.
Weekly shows are like that...the waiting. At least it in only a week. I still have at least 43 days on my wait for a show that hasn't been new on TV since the mid-1980s. But it will be glorious.

Another fanart found on Pixiv by way of Danbooru(which doesn't allow hotlinking)
Spoiler for Chiaki and a finished parfait:
Less than 10 hours to go until Pirate Time! Yes, these week-long waits can be painful at times. But I have waited longer for other things too so it's not so bad. |
