Possibly airlock. Meaning that particular area has air, Liumei only wear her helmet because she's heading for her ship to travel again.

Maybe same can be said inside the Veda portal (or whatevertheycallit).

Ribbon/Setsuna/Tieria just wear space suits not because there is no air, but because a battle going on; first rule about battle in space is to wear space suits

Drama CD 4 will be out in 8 July, featuring the 4 months following Break Pillar incident (a.k.a. between S2 episodes 17 and 18)

if this image is offical art and confirmed as actually occuring in the gundam 00 finale then ribbons as well as the O gundam's GN drive survived exia's attack

I do believe it was already confirmed that all five GN-Drives survived the showdown at the Celestial Being.

Now there is five more, unless those at Jupiter are the ones that are already made. Ten Gundams.....what a showdown that'd be.

Really? If this is true, the movie will be epic.

I don't remember what it was confirmed in, but it did say how it survived: each GN-Drive produces a localized GN-Field around itself. Doesn't make much sense considering the function of the GN-Sword (Anti GN-Field Weapon), but since its Word of God... *shrugs*

That's a bit confusing. It's like stabbing your own testicles. At the end of S1, they make Exia more important by claiming that is possesses a GN-Sword which is capable of going through a GN-Field. Than at the end of S2 they don't care about this. How silly is that?

However, I'm happy that both of the GN-Drives survived. When the show ended, I was sure that this would be the outcome, but still, it's good that it was confirmed.

Not really that silly. The idea is that each GN-drive has an unique forcefield that protects itself from harm, which is far more powerful than anything that can be formed around the Gundam itself.

Deux Ex Machina artifacts are often hard to destroy. Just ask Frodo Baggins.

Yeah, this is a typical case of Deux Ex Machina.

So the GN-drives are virtually indesructible?

Just so the movie can have all 5 GN drives.

Regarding the GN drives internal shield/field it makes sense the GN drive is the core and creating them is a great hardship so it stands to reason that they be the most protected part of the gundam everything else including the pilot is expendable

I'm hoping for setsuna to be piloting an upgraded ExiaR2 with the O raiser thruster wings. I doubt the 00 rasier will make a return the unit was just too powerful against regular enemies.

plus the movie jupiter image clearly showed 5 individual GN particle emissions so either a new GN drive was created or they never re-twined the Exia/O gundam drives.
