Ange's explanation for herself having no friends might be just what she interprets its as though. Don't forget that she's delusional.

But I still agree with the fact that her classmates were terrible.

But in a way it is implied that part of Ange's misery was brought on her by herself. If she accepted Eva as her "mother" or at least as a friend or an ally her life (both their lives) would have been different.

Ange chose not to be happy in order to get her family back. She threw away her happiness in order to follow an impossible dream.

Would if I could, but I have no access to the VN.

Spoiler for EP 7 content:

So either way, I still felt like Ange pretty much was this huge Debby Downer, and instead of trying to make her life better and just going with what she was given, she chose to ignore it and delude herself with the whole magic thing and her obsession of figuring out to what happened to her family.

Then I'll resume it and refresh some other's memories.

Ange had people hired by Eva to "guard her" preventing anyone from befriending her. She even went as far as firing Amakusa for actually being friendly with Ange.

That's why she grew so cold.

Sure Ange lives a bit too much in the past but basically ever since her family died her life has been a nightmare, at the very least until Eva died, and since then her life was in danger 24/7.

Spoiler for arc8:

Well, that just shows how much Eva was reminded of

Either way, I can understand Ange...but I don't agree with how she keeps fabricating reality to what she wants it to be.

But that's what everyone does to some extent. Since something like the red truth doesn't exist in reality, we can never have 100% certainty that what we think is real is actually so. All things considered, Ange's worldview isn't THAT outrageous or out of touch with reality.

By the way, has someone figured out what Ange had seen at the house of the boat captain among the folding beds before Amakusa came in and called her?? The one that seemed to be so staggering that even Sakutarou and Mammon (nearly) cried???
