Well, that's true - it's usually used to refer to someone as being very stupid in normal usage. The medical term came first, and was then appropriated to be used as an insult.

That said, current medical language tends to lean towards "learning disabilities" instead of "retarded", though nurses who were trained in the 70s, like my mom, will still end up saying "retarded" out of habit.

I think it's a different situation entirely.

Possibly the best way to create functional and 'survivable' fluctlight clones would be to take your original, strap them into the machine, hold a gun to their head and tell them that they will be killed (and ensure they believe it). Then make the copy, and let the clone know that the original was murdered. Of course... that would create a rather unhinged clone... but that's neither here nor there.

Just read Vol.10, there was one sentence which didn't really make sense:
