Chikage was (unconsciously) hesitant to signal the start of the fight because she was certain Ethan would kill Kenichi the instant the fight started. During the fight she doesn't really display any worry, then again Kenichi hasn't really been injured yet either, or at least her reaction wasn't shown when Kenichi's pressure point was hit.

Not that I wouldn't enjoy seeing Shigure doing the same thing.

From what I have read from this chapter, it would seem that Chikage is unconscioulsy starting to care for Kenichi. I also enjoyed her shocked moment and her "fail" expression on how his master's got him warmed up for the match.

Imo, a good story shouldn't be too fast to read. The thing I hate about series like these is because of the excessive fanservice, lack of plot and it focuses on little jokes or slip ups in order to stretch out the series. Somewhat ruins a manga like Naruto and bleach.

Mikumo and the Elder chat, and it seems Chikage's Master makes fun of the Elder over something (I can't read what it is, but my imagination tells me she is making fun of him for checking her out with her clothes torn when they destroyed that military base together,), and they continue talking, but Chikage's Master appears like she is going to start a fight with the Elder.

Kenichi vs Ethan;

the fight continues, and Kenichi's right arm is giving him problems, but Ethan doesn't let up and continues to attack. Kenichi activates the Ryusuui Seikuken and Kenichi feels something from Ethan, which causes Ethan to back off temporarily.

Chikage and Miu are talking about something (can't read it sorry), but hazarding a guess, I believe they are talking about Rachel being taken as a disciple of another master (the masked guy it seems).

The pause ends and Ethan lets loose a barrage of attacks that Kenichi successfully defends against, but they still knock him away.

There is a page of Chikage's Master saying something to the Elder, which seems to surprise him.

Flashes over to Kenichi vs Ethan again and Kenichi successfully traps one of Ethan's arms and closes to an extremely short distance (almost face-to-face with Ethan), Kenichi smiles and Miu and Chikage seem to be surprised by Kenichi's move.

Seems like a pretty interesting chapter, dying to hear what the Elder and Mikumo were talking about though.

Mikumo and the Elder meet!! But appearently it is just talk for now. As for the Kenichi/Ethan fight, it looks like Kenichi is adapting a bi to Ethan's fighting style and ends with a teaser of Kenichi getting the up hand at the end. Have to wait for the translation so I could read what is going on between the Elder and Mikumo.

A very interesting chapter, the interaction between the Elder and Mikumo was interesting, and funny at the same time. Mikumo's philosophy seems different then most of what we have seen from Yami/Yomi, and her confidence is Ethan's vitory is due to the fact Ethan is afraid for his sister.

No surprise that Kenichi is being pressed with one of his arms out of action, but he is still holding up rather well. We also learn that Rachel is probably going to get taken in by the Demon Fist God if Ethan doesn't win this fight, and he treats his disciples like disposable material, as we already know.

Ethan reveals that he can counter the Ryuusui Seikuken by making his breathing irregular, and thus avoid the reading aspect of the technique (that sounds really hard btw, as a Martial Artist myself, that should be exhausting)

And the chapter ends on a cliffhanger, with Kenichi trapping Ethan's arm and smiling.

Pretty good chapter, exciting as I have come to expect from Kenichi.

You can practically feel it.


Mikumo would make a good master ally outside of Ryouzanpaku. We don't see much of that usually. There's just the boxer and to some extent, Hermit's master. Most of time it's just about Kenichi gaining new friends.

I'm still wondering what made her turn to the bad side besides a rejection by the Elder in his prime, which some of us are expecting.

Or perhaps she is only using Yami as an excuse for the Elder too fight her and gain some understanding through some heart too heart fighting.

The latest chapter gives us a hint at least. They have different worldviews and live differing philosophies from each other. As she says so herself, "...that's the reason why we don't match."

It would make for a short and sweet flashback chapter though, considering there's still a lot of things we don't about the Elder and his family history.
