Nanoha: Erk! You told me you didn't have any copies of that! Yuuno: I didn't have any copies. Your sister on the other hand was a different story. Forwards: *were missing the context of this* |

But what does this actually accomplish?
Does it simply prevent sound from leaving or entering the field? When Yuuno used it against the first monster Nanoha fought, as soon as the field dropped, we could suddenly hear the crickets chirping where before there had been total silence save for the noise of battle. Does it also freeze the image of the space inside the field so that nothing appears to move? Thus, no one sees the property damage (in addition to not feeling the vibrations or hearing the noise) until the field drops? Does it prevent normals from entering or magical creatures from leaving? When normals are caught within the field, as in the first sound stage episode at the water park, are magical creatures, mages and spells rendered invisible? Were the girls incapable of seeing Nanoha, Yuuno and Nanoha's barrier spell when it protected them from the water? Were they incapable of actually seeing the water monster, though still obviously aware that SOMETHING was picking them up and stripping them? If normals are not rendered blind, but instead made completely intangible within the field, how did Arisa, Suzuka, Shinobu and Noel get caught within Yuuno's field? And later, within Reinforce's? ...Alright, looking at that one again, it makes some sense that a vampire's older sister and her robot maid would be just as susceptible as the younger vampire, and if Arisa was caught one time, then why not another. If normals really are supposed to be rendered intangible within the field, then it explains why anyone inside the houses caught within Yuuno's first field (around the vet clinic) were not aware of what was going on inside of that field. It still doesn't explain what exactly those normal people experience. If they don't find themselves mysteriously shoved out of the field, then any resulting property damage should appear without warning and possibly cause them serious injury. Further, if sound and sight are otherwise NOT blocked within the field, then someone is going to call the police in sooner than what happened that night. (The sirens sounded much too soon to be responding to calls though, so it's more like the police suddenly heard all of the ruckus originating from the field and flicked on their sirens before closing in to investigate). |

But when you can't come up with one that makes any sense, you have to ignore canon (vague and contradictory as it seems) and hope that no one calls bullshit on you.
I'm also a fan of Star Tek and aware of the attempted humor. But I wanted to share the thoughts I'd been having on the subject, and hopefully get some thoughtful feedback. |
