It's not hard to tell that Hayate has a low budget. The background is completely static in most scenes, but it's something to watch closely in this episode because of all the cameos.

Yeah, there were some interesting references in the background this ep.

The Yakitate! crew in a couple of shots, the Comiket building, the 痛車 (anime cars), and best of all- Akai no Shana posters.

Don't think the budget is that low. But in a 52 episodes production, quality usually slacks at some point (usually in the middle) before picking up later. They call it allocation.

But you're right, the quality has been dipping again lately. So we should all try to enjoy the show for the many references in it instead, well at least for the time being.

The wait is worth it. Got several laughs out of this episode - perhaps the time between when I saw my last HnG might account for that. Now, onto the episode.

Fast-paced, random, but a fun ride still. It's why I like this show, after all. Nagi's scene in Hayate's room with what she thought was his Porn Stash was great. Though why a tiger has a collection of books of manly men in his room is...well, I won't think too hard on that one. Seeing Klaus create a cake of that proportion was also good, and Nabeshin popped up a couple of times as well.

Poor Hayate. So deeply in love with Maria, and yet the airplane on the ferris wheel all but made it certain he won't get her...but I'm still rooting for them.

Next time (however long the wait is until next time...) being a Klaus episode should be worth a laugh or two. Klaus finally gets the screentime he's been wanting.

maria in this ep was just awesome! to think when i was all hinaxhayate, maria earned so much points with me on this episode! haha it seems maria is afterall but a normal girl haha. so funny how she was cosplaying as suigintou hahha! loved this episode!!

definetly one of the best episodes yet
Nice to see some HayatexMaria momets

The titanic scene was genius except when Maria mentions the part with the tuna which made me burst in laughter, because originally this scene is supposed to be more dramatic, the tuna part was just too random

Epic is back, man. The series is random and eccentric (like the OP) yet again, rejoice!

I almost didn't notice the Gucci reference bag, or the possible Haruhi reference with the pen-on-nose.

Well, would you look at that. I thought Hayate would kiss her. WHOOPS, JUST A TEASE AGAIN. And the acting at the end, I almost want to save that.

10/10. I really enjoyed this in all its glory.

Also, when she mentioned her "lover" who's on the tuna ship, why is it that the first person that comes to my mind is Harima from School Rumble of all places?

Great episode by the way. The best original-anime episode so far in my gloriously correct opinion. It's cute how Maria-san gets equally as flustered as our butler-in-debt at those shy moments, hmm.

Really liked this episode, it was fast-paced and hilarious!

But one thing I had always thought before this episode was that I had the image of Maria not "like-like" Hayate but more of a "person who enjoys being around" Hayate because of the craziness he brings to the mansion. But now, with all the blush moments and the hints of feelings, I really do think that might actually like-like Hayate, with all those rosy cheeks she had. Or maybe im just observing this too much, and she's just embarrassed because she hasn't done something like this with a guy before, going on dates and all (well i could be wrong on that too). Now I wonder how hayate x maria fares in the manga series..

I'll be honest... Any love I had for Maria has all but died as it has become obvious to me that her and Hayate would be more than a perfect couple. They look so good together it just makes me want to ball up all my emotions save for envy, jealousy, and sadness, and CRY!!! GOOD FOR YOU TWO! x_x...

There was also a bunch of Zeta Gundam references, where you had a Kamille, Quattro, and Haman look-alikes when Hayate took the initial shots of people at the dating areas. (I liked the Zeon insignia on the back of hamans school uniform, lol)

Today my friend girl and I went to visit Harajuku, which is supposedly famous for the couples that go swarming in and out. BTW, she and I are just friends not a love couple. Anyways, we were on our business when I caught sight of an unfamiliar sight. Hayate, not dressed in his usual butler uniform, was seemingly courting a beautiful and graceful girl. I saw them enter some department store and after an hour they went out with loads of stuff they bought. I took the chance to approach them and to introduce them to my friend. Imagine my surprise when Hayate told me that his companion was actually Maria, the same maid that works at the Sanzennin household under the patronage of that bratty girl. Maria looked like a different person without being dressed in her maid uniform. Could she be really a fresh seventeen-year-old, as she stubbornly states so? Oh, well! Hayate was not very much fond of the idea that I confused both Maria and him as lovers going on a date. According to him, they were just going out in order to pick some reference, sample material for that brat's manga. It seems that she ran out of idea, and boss her servitude to bring him fresh photos to use for her latest project. Anyways, our good meeting had to end since my friend insisted on me to check some of the interesting café and restaurant shops around the vicinity. So our two couples said farewell and resume their activities. Everything until late afternoon went well, and I even made by friend girl laugh with a few of my improvised jokes. However, we soon had to leave Harajuku like speed devils when we noticed that an odd group of weird afro people were starting to tail our every movements, and even bugging us very nosily about having the two of us kissing. It was a such a real embarrasement and a pity. Because due to that group of psychotic, afro girls we didn't have any chance to taste the most exquisite cake. The cake was supposedly baked by an old guy with refined and skillful talents, btw.
