The way I view it, with morishima(sp?) Miya was essentially completely excluded by him, it was obvious he was looking at her and dreaming off but he'd respond "oh its nothing". So her brother is steadily ignoring her for a girl he wont even really tell her about aside from quick introductions where she was "expected" to simply like her.

As far as Kaoru goes, they had been friendly like that for a long time, seeing them goof off was nothing unusual.

With Sae, Miya is being included fully. Not only is she one of her friends, but when he decides he wants to doing something with/for her, he includes Miya in the plans too to help along.

The episode actually made me feel less perverted in comparison with that guy. -_-

But seriously, have they changed some of the team starting from the Sae arc? Because it is like a different anime in so many ways.

It won't do any good if the arcs were too much like each other, that wouldn't be very interesting - and tehy would also lose a lot of viewers if they did that.
So they're doing some variation to keep people interested.
The first two arcs were already a lot like each other (a little too much even). If they'd done a third minor variation of the same, it would've turned off many people.

Not to mention that Sae is the least popular heroine out of the lot, so doing her arc differently adds an extra enjoyment factor to it.

A Japanese character ranking list was posted over in the image thread. Miya takes the sixth spot from Sae, behind all the other primary heroines.

I'd actually say both played a part in it. Explains the reason why the staff are taking such a different path with animating her story for the anime.

Agreed, as I've quite liked Sae as a character so far, and next arc after hers looks to be least interesting to me from what we've seen of Rihoko anyways.
