If I hadn't read the VN, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the first episode. Having read it and knowing the characters well enough made the first episode very entertaining for me.
I'm not sure how someone going into this with no idea who the characters are or their relationships would handle it though.

They'll probably be confused trying to figure out the relationship between all the characters. I suppose this anime adaptation (or maybe it's just the first episode) is specifically targeted at the VN readers. Or maybe they will explain more in the 2nd episode while clearly showing in this episode that this anime is mostly centered around fighting.

Never fear Xacual and Hooves, for an anime-only watcher is here!
Normally I would not be this hilariously horribly hammy, but after watching that, how can I not?! And with that in mind, my take on this opening episode is... That was an impressive Japanese high school re-enactment of Sengoku Basara! PUT YA GUNS ON! Incredibly silly, but also pretty fun to watch. It's more TNA (Total Nonstop Action) than the TNA wrestling federation itself is. But wow... Character overload! I'm going to need a scoresheet for this, lol I like the vaguely Nanoha Takamachi-looking girl, and the vaguely Sayaka Miki-looking girl (the lone sniper). Yamato (the only character name that's sticking with me right now) and his sister were pretty cool this episode as well. So yeah, is this supposed to be like Sengoku Basara meets its lighthearted gender-bended cousin Battle Girls: Time Paradox? Just curious.

I suppose they are slowly going to go through character development when the other girls go through the love comedy with Yamato? The energetic-spear-wielding Kazuko, The fencer Christiane Fredrich, the sword-maiden Mayuushi, the sniper Miyako, or maybe Momoyo will reconsider her decision?
Either way, robotic Lelouch VA is still as epic as usual.

Also I'd say the series is supposed to be just about the characters being friends, doing stuff together, and all around having awesome times. Of course the fights / competitions are a large part of the story and the girls are all the best fighters as shown in this episode.

Lol all that fighting was awesome, was not expecting that. Like how Yamato doesn't give up on Momoyo even though it apparent she'll never go out with him. Besides the huge character dump, it was enjoyable. I'm most interested in those 2 that were fleeing the battlefield, but it looked like they weren't apart of the battle at all. Momoyo was so bad-ass with her fighting ability.

Ah well, I guess this is something like Episode 00 in Haruhi then. I look forward to seeing what the less action-y parts of this anime are like starting in Episode 2.

I haven't played Majikoi S either, so now I'm not even sure if I want the anime to be my first introduction to it. |

From what I've been researching, this episode is a pilot, made just to see if the series would see the green light. This explains not have opening, ending and finish with the credits like a final episode.
This explains why this episode had so much action. They had to show what they could do. |

Over all the episode was alright, I'll give it an 8 after i post, it's a bit cheesy, the animation is a little cheap, but it captures the characters well, although we don't get enough chrisu or Yukie, and definitely not enough matsuzaka I'm definitely excited about this, will definitely be playing majikoi again, don't expect clannad or Fs/N love dorama, but it's definitely a good laugh for eroge, and the anime started out alright, what I really want from this is a true HAREM route which is desperately need, for a great MC like yamato, he really can't get all those ladies to love him at the same time. |

I enjoyed that, even though I had no idea what the f*** was going on. It was like a cross between the good parts of Baka Test and Sengoku Basara. Certainly not at all what I was expecting, not having any experience with the VN.

Was not bad, like the battle scene, and how the characters announced their moves. Problem I have now is, I am expecting each episode to have battles in it, at least at the same scale. Looks like it is based on a eroge, but unlike others it does not stick it in your face.

@Majikoi's fighting sequences: They do not occur frequently, but - well - are being used as a major event generally. That is for the serious "battles". The main point of Majikoi lies within the friendship of the Kazama family and/or YamatoXGirl except of the VNs true route in case of the latter. |

The whole martial art school story thing always interests me, but personally for martial art anime, I prefer them actually having some sort of realism like Kenichi or Baki rather than "someone's the strongest in the universe because they can kamehameha".
