That is too funny, hes going to be raging hard. The only problem I have with his reviews is that if a game is multi-platform (PC,PS3 & XBOX) he always chooses the console, don't get it. Any who still enjoy his rants
Edit: Here's his review, oooooh boy...

The first 15 seconds sums up many people's reactions to Aliens: Colonial Marines. Including mine. Interestingly, in the 2011 demo that we were shown, the Xenos' animations and movements were actually alot better than in the full release. The Gunplay certainly feels alot better, too. In fact, a couple of reviewers, and Joe himself, said that this feels like a classic "Bait & Switch". Of course, this type of thing isn't new to me. I have seen E3 Demos that actually turn out to be better than the finished product. Most of the flaws Joe pointed out were the flaws I pointed out, and like myself Joe is extra disappointed because he was highly anticipated for this game (being a fan of the Aliens series).
With Aliens Colonial Marines being such a big disappointment, we may have to wait for a veeeeeeery long time before we see another Aliens based game. Hell, we may have to wait for another Aliens vs Predator for an Aliens game. |

Wasn't Spore kind of like that. It looked really cool in the demostrations and early release stuff, but after release the game paly just bogged down when you got the the sandbox space age level. The creature creator being the legacy of that game.

Oh god I knew he would express it this way. I'm a happy camper now for my own rage being vented like this. I even brought a plate of spaghetti, and a large bottle just to enjoy the show here.

I am sure you will have fun playing it for a couple of hours so yeah worth a rent. Just play it on the hardest or second hardest difficulty, or you'll cruise through it in about 5 hours....

Woah, this was fast! A mod for this game has just been released, which enables Direct X 10 Graphics and lighting effects.

They coulda done something awesome with the suit. Like have it show the suit but the guy or who ever runs past it then something starts up in the back behind it and a new more advanced suit comes up and slaps the yellow piece of junk outa the way.

What they are doing right now seems like a case where someone burns a pancake and is just piling the whip cream to make it taste better. This game been underdevelopment for a while, if it wasn't ready, it would have been better to postpone to make the game good.

Too true, unfortunately. Gearbox will have to polish the hell out of this (fix many of the Animation problems, bugs, and terrible AI. At this point, I don't think they will since it'll require more work than they are willing to put in), or a *very* dedicated team of modders will have to improve some of the problems with the game (witch IMHO is quite unlikely. I hope to god I am wrong.).
From what I am reading, it looks like Gearbox turned over much of the work to Timegate Studios for the Single Player portion. Randy did admit that they "outsourced" some of the work on the Singleplayer Portion (20%-30%) to Timegate, but an "anonymous" poster online who claims to have worked for TimeGate claims they did most of the work (if not all). On one hand, I can claim to be almost anyone online just as anyone can. But on the other hand the poster's words seem true if you compared the 2011 E3 demo to the "finished" (I use that word lightly for ACM) product we have now. The E3 demo does look better (alot better IMHO). TotalBiscuit gives a better overview on the first part of his video here over this outsourcing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6dtmWapwew I can't help but wonder if Randy will admit that this game was a flop or if he will defend it like he did with Duke Nukem Forever? |

As a developer or also publisher I don't think you can admit your game not to be "up to standards" so early after the release, otherwise there'll be (even more of) a flood of refund requests.
Gearbox just needs to stop taking lost causes and try to make passable games out of them, it damages their otherwise good reputation, which is the best marketing/PR for a developer in the industry. Oh and this "patchwork development" was obviously a stupid idea. Too many developers spoil the game-broth. |
