So according to the Dengeki player, Route A took 10 hours (though I'm not sure if that means straight from the beginning to the Good Ending, or including Bad Endings). And here is the chart of things avaliable in the demo:
Quote:
I expected there'd be a TIPS system in this game. I have a feeling it'll be more like I/O's TIPS than R11's TIPS. Whereas R11 had the TIPS listed once and then they appeared in the TIPS menu, I/O had the TIPS appear frequently in the text, and like Wikipedia hotlinks, you could click on the word and it'd take you straight to the TIPS page. 10 hours seems like a good length. That's roughly the length of a single R11 route without getting Bad Endings, IIRC. E17's true route also took roughly 10 hours, while a long route in I/O often took about 8 hours, so I think it'll work well. Of course, this doesn't tell us how many routes the game is really going to have (which is at least three at this point). So I won't be able to try the demo, but to be honest, even if I could, I don't think I'd want to. I'd rather experience the game in it's full form the way Nakazawa and the rest of the team envisions it. I know it's ironic for me to say this considering how I'm releasing a partial patch of the Never7 translation (which is more or less a demo), but that's just how I personally feel. Another Nakazawa interview is up, this time about the demo. While I've decided to avoid reading and translating interviews for Root Double until the game is released and I've finished it (maybe I'll translate them afterwards), there are still some good pictures from the interview. The first one is of an example of the Senses Sympathy System.
Spoiler for Senses Sympathy System:
The second is the "hint" system we've been told about, for Bad Ending #14 of Route (or rather "Root" A, as you'll see on the screen, apparently for pun. Nakazawa has explained the significance of the "Root" pun in another interview, but I've purposely neglected on reading it). Anyway, here's the screen. Spoiler for Bad Ending Hint Screen:

The Root B Trailer is now avaliable on Youtube, right here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8u_E...eature=channel In other news, Nakazawa will be appearing at Tokyo University on May 15th from 12:00-1:00 PM to make a lecture. What I'd kill to be there... |

Remember the two silluoetted characters? Both of them have been revealed (though their names and information are still hidden).
http://www.yetigame.jp/w/chara11.html http://www.yetigame.jp/w/chara12.html Ai Shimizu's character looks like a younger version of Mutsuki from I/O, IMO. Momoko Ohara's character... can't get that much off of her, but I can see why she has the voice she does- she does seem rather tomboyish looking. |

A survey was conducted over the past few weeks by Dengeki for users who'd played the demo to rank the demo (only consisting of Route A) and post comments on it. I avoided looking at the comments so that I didn't accidentally spoil myself, but the overall average of the scores was 86/100. Over 50% of users ranked it from 80-100, while the rest were lower.

The final six CG scenes have been posted for Route B today. I'll get to translating them in the next few days, but not immediately, since I'm almost done retranslating a route of Never7, and I want to get that done first.

One of the reviewers on Dengeki who's been keeping up on this game's development played the whole game and finished it. While I avoided the details of the review, his conclusion was that Root Double is, in his opinion, Nakazawa's greatest work yet, and is the best Visual Novel of this year so far.
Now I'm even more excited... there's only about another week to go! |

And now it's been released! Along with the release comes with the announcement that it there will be a novelization of Root Double (released in multiple parts), written by Souki Tsukishima himself. Personally, I think it's good that it's being written by the original author, as some of the other Infinity novelizations have been... less stellar (particularly Ever17's. Remember11's was good because it divided it into two books, one for each route, and was okay, but not stellar). I/O also had a novel, but it was just a side story (though still written by one of the original authors).
Anyway, I should get my copy by next week. It's been my tradition every time I play a Japanese only Infinity game to write a non-spoiler review of each route on the Ever17 GameFAQs forum. I haven't done so here because there were no topics for those games, but what do you all think? Should I post my reviews for Root Double on this forum too? EDIT: Yes, I am aware that Root Double isn't an Infinity game, but you all know what I mean. Last edited by GundamAce; 2012-06-13 at 12:24. |
