I agree with all of those but the Date one. In what way is dd.mm.yy superior to mm.dd.yy? Sure, I get that days become months become years, but when talking people generally would say the month first unless they're in the 17th century or something.

That's just because you are used to that, let's just say it would be so much better if there was a standard valid for all the world. Whenever I see something like 04/08/14 I can never understand which date it actually is.

Only if they're American.

YY-MM-DD or DD-MM-YY. Pick one. (I like YY-MM-DD as it's more easily sorted, but both are logical.) Going MM-DD-YY is like writhing one hundred twenty three "231". It's ridiculous.

No, it'd be like writing it 123, since that's how it's said. Do you say (using Jan-Poo's example date) 8th April, 8th of April, or April 8th? And I'm talking everyday conversations when dates are involved.

That said, I have no issues with yy.mm.dd. That also feels logical when taking into account the different ways countries write dates. I think banks use that method, but can't recall.

I'm not American. I say "8 avril". And it's not a matter of "how it's said", it a matter of how it's organized as positional writing. Instead of assigning values to positions from most to least (123), or least to most (321), you went second biggest, least, most. As I said, it makes no sense. And I'd read Jan Poo's example as "4th of August".

Like Anh Minh said, it's the very fact that in everyday conversation Americans say the month first that is odd.
Most languages that I know say the day first, I actually don't know what English people do though.

As an American, I'm just going to say that month before day is mainly due to ease of speech. It's quicker and easier for us to say "April 25th" than it is to say "the 25th of April", 'cause saying "25 April" just sounds odd to us, language-wise. So we end up writing our dates out in the same manner.

Obviously it's going to sound different depending on the language. Ultimately y'all are arguing over something stupid.
