I just remembered...didn't Unzen say that Zen was second only to Medaka in combat ability? (Granted, he probably didn't remember Hinokage)
But still DS and parasite eyes aside, It would not surprise me if Zenkichi overpowered crazy undead samurai girl with his savate.

I think he's going to rely on more 'normal' traits other than brute strenght, given he said the girl was stronger.

I mean, yea he's pretty strong, he held on to the rope no other student could, was stated like two times that he was the only one who could physicaly challenge Medaka, but that seems to mean little here given the insight he gave us of the Undead Samurai girl.

If he tries fighting hand-to-sword, all that should happen, is him getting cut up.

Because only an absolute moron fight up close with someone who can cut them into Sushi. Moron's, and people with Plot Armour.

...Zen's speciality is fighting and disarming people...are you forgetting his fight with Munakata?
And you're still going on about Plot Armour when your favourite character is basically immortal (And also has Plot Armour...or rather Popularity Armour)?
