Your First Anime OST
I remember mines like it was yestereday, actually about 4 years ago to be exact. I just finished watching Cowboy Bebop Vol. 1 12:00 at midnight and after listening to the opening theme over and over again, I just decided that I had to go pick it up. So the next morning I went on over to my anime shop and purchased it for $12.95 and played it in my car.....I completely fell in love with it. I must have listened to that whole soundtrack for about 12 hours straight. The music was totally out of this world. I know I had Tank! on repeat on my CD player for a couple. Today, it's still one of my favorite soundtracks. Anyone else had any pleasurable memories with their first.
P.S. I apologize if this thread has been done before. |

My first OST was Haibane Renmei - Hanenone. It is also currently the only one I have. Unless you count my Hiromi Iwasaki single "Anata no Kokoro ni," which has the song Egao that was used in a short anime video for Minna no Uta.

My first soundtrack was D.N.A², I felt in love with the opening ( Blurry Eyes by L'Arc~en~Ciel ) and I also love the ending ( Single Bed by SharanQ )
Blurry Eyes is the origin of my love for L'Arc~en~Ciel ^^

"The Day of Second Impact" special edition CD released on September 13, 2000, production ceased on December 31, 2000.
Cost me $30 before shipping from Animenation, so they got me for $10 (cover price was about 2200yen.) This is now dwarfed by the 128+ CDs I dragged back from Japan... -_-;; |

I never have been that hooked on the music enough to buy the OST until I saw Tsukihime. The opening theme has me hooked, I just wish the damn thing was longer than 1:35 min.
But I will definately be picking it up. |

Haibane Renmei would have been my first, great music to relax to.
I wouldn't mind buying Noir's and HackSign's (or anything Kajiura) either, but unfortunately, I don't exactly live in a anime-infested country.

My first anime OST was for Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind. Even though some of the electronic instrumentation didn't age very well, I still love that OST. I love Joe Hisaishi's orchestral work (especially Mononoke).
Before that I purchased an Animage compilation CD containing songs from Nausicaa, Laputa, Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro, & Porko Rosso. The music varies wildly from song to song, but the most memorable track is what my wife and I refer to as "the Dust Bunny song" from Totoro. They only played a single chord from the song in the film (as the girls look up and see some Dust Bunnies fluttering around in a corner), but the whole song is on the disc. It's very cute, quirky, and fun, and it always brings smiles when my family hears it. |
