I was surfing the web at a local institution which has a firewall that blocks streaming videos
a firewall is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firewall_(computing) in other words, it's a software or hardware that blocks stuff to or from your PC. anyway it's just a CM |

While I know almost nothing about this, I wanted to check it out anyway. While the tones are obviously completely different (one's primarily comedy, this is primarily a love story), this gave me some Korezom vibes. And while there's plenty of blood for you bloodthirsty fellows, there are plenty of panty shots for people like me too.

after getting home, I actually decided to watch it before I sleep.
optimistically speaking, it was better than I expected. I shall not poison other people's minds as I save my biased comments for a later time. and Zexcs, take out the bats please. oh and I think Kamimemo's dokupe would have been better than doctor cinnamon. To a MOD: thanks in advance for moving this (≥∀≤) |

Animation's gorgeous, music's pretty epic, and the pace is interesting. I probably punched myself every time a holy light appeared though. I think they up-played the drama a little bit more than what I would've liked (though kinda expected given the tone of the narrator in the PVs); in the end, it really depends on how they continue the pacing from here on.
I seriously constantly switched from wow this is awesome to wtf this sucks ... I say this is the bipolar anime of the season. |

It’s been a long wait, ever since that first announcement that Itsu-Ten would be getting its own anime so many months ago; and yet now that it’s finally here, it seems as though it’s all gone by so very quickly. Typical, ne? Still, I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised with how the first episode turned out.
Itsu-Ten’s animation was splendid and a beauty to look at from beginning to finish, IMHO. One of, if not the best, looking animes this entire season. Now, ever since it was first realized that ZEXCS would be producing Itsu-Ten, discussions popped up almost immediately on the topic of fan service; and many loyal fans, myself included, were understandably concerned. After all, anyone who’s read the LN or manga would know that there’s virtually no fan service given, and to anyone familiar with many of ZEXCS other works, asking them not to put fan service in an anime is like telling a fish to stay out of water. It’s just the way they do things. Still, all things considered, I have to say they were surprisingly lenient with Itsu-Ten; a majority of ‘traditional’ fan service focusing mostly on Mirai. Now they did go out of their way to promote Himea more so than the manga did, but I was pleased to see that they gave her the atmosphere of class befitting her character. Just continue being gentle with her, boys. ‘Cause if you’re not… just know that there are consequences… Story-wise, it drifted a bit here and there from how the LN and manga did things; though there’s really nothing surprising about that. Still, I believe they stayed true to the important points and had the main focuses of the story come through just fine, though we will have to wait for the 2nd Episode to see just how well it ties everything together to the 1st, though I don’t see any real cause for concern here. And, of course, last but nothing even resembling least, the music. Being a music fanatic myself, I'm open to pretty much everything; and this one being one of my favorite series, there would have to be some god awful tracks for me to give it a bad review. In all sincerity though, there were some beautiful pieces to listen to, although some, especially the ending, had something of an "Ar Tonelico" feel to it. Still, I'll be purchasing the soundtrack when it comes out. All-in-all, it pleases me immensely to say that Itsu-Ten is getting the treatment it deserves, so let’s hope for the best from here on out! Watched the raw of the first episode and I was pleasantly surprised. It looks pretty good. I won't be a huge fan of the pantyshots and whatnot, but I'm sure the story will overshadow that enough for me to tolerate it. Looking forward to subs.

Though they don't really block some of the pantyshots. Some of the sequences are not as fluent as the rest, which dragged this episode down for a bit. Overall it's kind of messy with too many fantasy terms thrown in at once without time to build up and explain them.

FYI: CR has announced that it will be streaming the series too, presumably at higher resolutions for those who have subscriptions. I'm going to rewatch the episode again when CR offers it because my NicoNico stream had so many buffering pauses that any momentum the episode's events might have had completely evaporated.

surprisingly, the animation is pretty good (except for the bats and circles which bother me), the art and character design are gorgeous, even Himea's facial features change from child to adolescent were noticeable. though, denyuuden did have good animation for a number of episodes as well. my main concern with Zexcs is with plot and scene butchering though that's also probably dependent on director and script writer as well. but currently there is no major plot butchering yet, just scenes and some less important events cut out. I believe the flashback for specs guy in the flashback scene at the end will be expanded next episode. however denyuuden episodes 2 and 3 were also acceptable adaptations for volume 1, but towards the end (especially last 3 to 4 volumes), it was a disaster. the BGM and music sounds good (while I'm not an expert on that); the only one that bothers me is the very last BGM when Gekkou stabbed Himea. that was a little off to me. the funny thing is the story from Kagami will get better later (because he needs time to set up the large-scale stage as usual), but the adaptation from Zexcs will get worse. these 2 things working in opposite tandem, ahem, should I facepalm here? some of the scene jumping may seem a little confusing because some things are unexplained and will probably be clearer in episode 2, since episodes 1 and 2 are connected and can be treated as the prologue of the story. other than that, I won't say it's not fluent, but then again, I already know the story (like the back of my hand), so that might be a reason for my biased view. the circles are really funny stuff, in a way they show that Taito's regeneration is magically related, though I saw one review that thinks Gekkou uses the same magic as Himea because they have the same circles *facepalm*. many of the lines are mostly from the LNs. the lovey dovey lines might sound corny and cheesy, but they don't bother me much (well actually, they did initially but I'm already used to it). Mirai's VA is doing well. I wish they kept Marina from the dramaCD for Himea. I can live with the holy light; I'm never a panties person. terminology wise, only the following appeared: 毒(まじゅつ): Poison (Black Magic) 最古の魔術師 : Most Ancient Sorcerer 犠者 : Sacrifice 軍 : Military スペル.エラー : Spell Error which isn't a lot yet. and the actual reading of 最古の魔術師 is not revealed yet. Err, curious start, is all I can say. I'm leaved with a lot of question marks after watching the first episode. I kinda like the show but as soon as something interesting starts the scene switches from tense moment to needless fanservice. Not that I'm complaining about the pantyshots it's just that they are inserted at wrong time. Himea is kinda... strange. I find her lovely but at the same time kinda scary... maybe? Taito seems pretty interesting for the main lead so far.
The truck scene reminded me of Kore Wa Zombie Desu ka?, but maybe it isn't fair to say it like that as I don't know which manga/light novel came out first.

Liked the first episode, expecially the erelationship master-servant between Himea and Taito. It will surely be a drama-romantic serie that i will never be tired to watch (execpt if fall into the crappy adaption like Fortune Arterial).
Poor girl Himea, 9 years alone and confined ina a pseudo prison chained, pretty hard to manage without turining crazy. Last edited by Fnights; 2011-07-09 at 14:16. |
