Yggdra Union

I dislike PSP a lot but... /sigh
Yggdra Union! Now with voice acting, tons of other stuff...
http://www.sting.co.jp/yggdra/index.htm

And a movie! Under the Movie button. The rest of the site, aside from some bits, is pure Japanese though.

Is this a remake from the one of the GBA? I loved the game but holy jesus, it was hard as hell Gulcasa and the final boss were plain unfair -_-.
Don't get me wrong, it is an awesome title... if you have the pacience for such a weird RPG, I just found a little weird that there were no voices or anything, unlike its predeccesor, Riviera.

I think that more than being difficult, the game was just extremely demanding.

That is, if you didn't play some scenarios by the book (i.e: with previous knowledge of the events or a guide) you were bound to get into trouble for one reason or another.

I am all for strategy in my games, and I really dont mind having a time/card limit imposed on every stage; But dammit, they really need to increase the number of cards you are able to use in some places.

EDIT:

Here's a link to the old thread.

http://forums.animesuki.com/showthre...t=Yggdra+Union

Never managed to get much attention, though.

Oh didn't know one existed...
I don't know... I found it not too hard aside from a few stages... Like the one where you had to stall Baldus's forces while Milanor and Elena sneak behind the fortress.

But maybe I'm just good at games like this. XD

That seems be the case here.

For me, some scenarios were a nightmare because the mission objective changed several times.

Like when the objective is "Defeat X enemy" and suddenly it changed too "Sneak into castle before...". If your characters were not in the right places, you ended up wasting turns getting into position and thus failed the mission.

A few extra turns to manuever would have been nice, IMO.

I thought the game was ridiculously difficult (first two battles with Gulcasa were a real pain), but it got easier as it went along. Too easy, in fact.

The final few levels were a joke. Yggdra gets Crusade which is instant-win, and if you took the time to level the Assassin (Elena) to maximum, she is the best character in the game. With her and Bloody Claw, she can win 1v5. Even if she loses, she'll lose minimal morale because the head was taken out.

Crusade isn't as over-powered as you might think, but it becomes easy in the endgame because Yggdra and Milanor are extremely powerful units who always end up maxed out... Plus the only unit with more HP then Yggdra is Elena.

@Daniel:
Ah yeah THOSE can be annoying... I never had too much problems since I had a few very strong units (Yggdra or Rosary for example) so even if my other units were out of position, they could hold on their own for a while.

Sony sure knows which games to pluck from the GBA's vast library of originals huh?

I'd like to add the site has been updated! There is an official entry in Characters for Aegina! (I'd like to request someone translating the name of her seiyuu ^^)

And as an added warning: Beware. Some of the videos do contain spoilers. XD

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who almost shot himself in the head after watching the site. Guess I'll save for a PSP -_-

I have my own plan.
1. Find someone with PSP and Yggdra Union PSP.
2. Get baseball bat.
3. Beat person senseless, steal PSP and Yggdra Union.
4. Ditch the baseball bat.
5. ???
6. Profit.
