uTorrent Sign Six Month RetSpan Agreement to Develop New Software
The lead developer of uTorrent has signed a six month agreement with PeerFactor, a subsidiary of anti-piracy group RetSpan, to develop new distribution software.
http://digg.com/software/uTorrent_Si...p_New_Software Just passing this along. uTorrent has teamed up with anti-P2P groups, maybe it's time to stop using it. Edit: Here's uTorrent's IP address that are initially blocked by BlueTack's block list. I added all the IP BlueTack mentioned to my PG2 blocklist. Quote:

uTorrent has NOT teamed up with anti-p2p groups. Read the full article, as well as the uTorrent website before making such uninformed accusations as that. |

I'm not saying it's not safe (or it's safe), I'm just posting their IP for anyone who wants to add their IP to their blocklist. I have Google, Yahoo and Microsoft on my blocklist, doesn't mean you have to do it too. It's your choice wether or not to block uTorrent.
As for old and incorrect news, I trust BlueTack, and if they blocked it initially, they must have their reasons to do so. |

Sorry, your a fool to trust a third party like that... Why would you place your trust to them in the first place is beyound me. Best way to protect yourself, dont pirate! Download only anime... you'll be fine. IP filtering only works till they change it... Kind've retarded protection in my eyes...

That's why you have to keep your lists updated. Of course it's not bullet proof, but until Winny or Share gets more popular in the English speaking countries, this is all we can do for now (if you use P2P).
Just read the link you posted, the simple answer would be not to piss off BlueTack's admin, I don't surf when I'm P2P'ing anyways, cuz the HTTP blocking basically blocks you from 75% of the sites. So I don't really care if they block a few more innocent sites, as long as the anti-p2p IPs are blocks, I'm fine with it. And like I said before, if you trust uTorrent, then keep using it. Just like I trust BlueTack so I keep using their list. There's no evidence (yet) that saids uTorrent is compromising your information. |

Besides, isn't it completely pointless for an anti-p2p company to partner with a bt client? After all, bt use an open protocol, so you're broadcasting your ip to everyone when you're in a swarm. Companies don't need an inside man to find out who's downloading what. Hell, it probably doesn't even make things any easier for them. The only way to be safe is to only use bt to download legal things, like the promo torrents from adv.
