I think my general opinion of this port from what I've seen is that the CGs are absolutely brilliant but the original probably did everything else better.
Personally, from watching scenes on Youtube, it seems to me like voice acting ruins the pacing of a lot of scenes. The battle scenes just weren't meant to move that slowly. The drawn out animations don't help either (Dlanor's sword was so much better in the original in both visuals and speed). |

I think what it comes down to, mostly, is just that we had our own versions in mind for the way these characters sounded in certain scenes, as well as how they looked in some of the art. The PS3 version seems to go against what most people had imagined a few times. Makes us react with hostility.

Well, I've only played the first 3 eps on the PS3 version, but my main gripe is that the "sword slashes" etc, are indeed too slow. In the PC version, it was like BAMBAMBAM /RED TRUTH\, but in the PS3 version, it was a calm slash, and then red truth.
However, overallt I'm pretty happy with at least Rondo so far. Intending to buy Nocturne, too. |

The biggest counterexample of the previous issue is Kanon with his rapid slashes, as well as "piercing" truths (the diagonal colored beam of lights) being appropriately fast. For instance, Kanon/Shannon VS Siesta corps in Ep4 was fast enough. But the "deep slash" with Dlanor's longsword, Will's Katana, Erika's Scythe etc are just slow as heck. And for some reason, Dlanor's rage was really dumbed down due to this choice, while the original game went on brutal mode with the piercing effect instead of regular sword slash.

And to a lesser extent, the sprites. |

Question:
Are there any sprites showing Battler with his golden sword, like how they made sprites showing Erika's scythe and Will's sword, or is it yet another weapon that's still mentioned but not actually shown in his hands, like Bern's scythe, those duel pistols, and Beato and Erika's dueling swords in EP8? Because either way, until I get a look at it, I'm assuming his sword would look something like this (it's the giant sword Dlanor killed Battler with; the image was taken from Ougon Musou Kyoku Cross and edited with Photoshop by me): Spoiler for sword:

No, there isn't any.
They actually used a golden sword sprite, similar to Dlanor's longsword (which was initially in the doujin game but never used for some reason). But you never see a sprite of Battler with a sword, you only see a CG with some "sort" of blue and gold (and funnily enough, the game does not have Battler in gold with the gamemaster cloak, despite the visual book shows it).
