Boris Johnson resigns as British PM

So like Big Bald Boris just resigned as the British PM. What happens now?

He resigned from the leadership of the Conservative party. This means there will be a party election (sometime in October) which means he is free to hang on to the position of PM until then.

Some people in the party, though, have been very vocal about removing him beforehand in favor of a caretaker PM. Either someone else in the current cabinet or even bringing back Theresa May to hold the fort until October.

Problem is: this requires BoJo to acquiesce since he needs to voluntarily stand down. If he doesn't, then it probably means that the Conservative Party backbenchers will still need to find a way to change their internal rules to bright forth a vote of no confidence.

This is because, as per the current rules of the Party, the PM is immune from a no confidence vote for the year following the previous one. And BoJo just barely survived one of those just recently.

This is all absolute madness. Over 50 resignations in government over 24 hours? Insanity!

Rather than what's happening to the government, I am more curious on what British citizens have been thinking.
Have they finally get the cue that things are not working out, or they remain stupid like their US cousins?

The issue with UK politics is not so much the voters but more the single-member FPTP system they have. That and the absolute insane conservative bias in British media. Rags like The Sun or The Daily Mail have absolutely no qualm with showing their bias right on the front pages.

TLDR did a video touching on the subject:
