Typically I'd say the airing is within about 12-18 months of the announcement, but it totally depends. It's quite possible that there could be some issue with the production committee or some other conflict that results in internal changes that we never hear about.

In this case, it was the novel publisher announcing they were starting planning, but at that time they didn't announce any other production details yet (e.g. director, studio, character designer, etc.), so maybe it was announced a bit early in planning.

Always interested when Nakashima Kazuki is the screenwriter, though I much preferred Oh! Edo Rocket and Kill la Kill to Gurren Lagann.

(Rocket's script was actually written by Aikawa Shou (Twelve Kingdoms, Rahxephon), but it was adapted from a stage play by Nakashima.)

Overlord Season 4

Overlord has become one of anime's top isekai series, and fans always want more of the franchise. Recently, fans saw Overlord hit up the small screen thanks to an ambition crossover, but it seems the anime cannot be kept down for long. A new report has gone live about the anime, and it says a fourth season has been given the green light.

The report came from KSM Anime after the anime licensor took to Twitter. The German company was attending a local anime convention which hosted two creators on Overlord. It was there the publisher told fans a fourth season is on its way.

"On Saturday at the Overlord Panel, our Guests of Honor announced a fourth season of Overlord! No more information is available at this time though."

No real clue what the story will be about. The original series' third film (a TV movie) had the same title as was based on Dessler's return home to Gamilas and Yamato training a new crew for the ship after the immense loss of life during the war with Gatlantis. However that would only be directly after the end of Yamato 2202...this new series is set years later...so where they go from here is anyone's guess.

It appears to be only loosely based on the game, adopting a different and definitely not dark fantasy setting.
