Maybe you're not following, but the "college" K-On already exists. New chapters are being published about it every month. KyoAni wouldn't need to "spend a lot of time thinking of lots of ideas" for it, they would just base it on the already-existing manga like usual.

Don't expect it to happen soon, though.

Stupid question, but I'm guessing we'll get a series 3 with the girls in college. No way that this would be ignored, considering the series' popularity.

I'm quite positive that won't happen K-ON! has special place in the hearts of their fans.

There are many hit animes airing after K-ON! (Madoka, for example) but K-ON! is still hot as ever (at least in some places I've visited regularly).

It is one thing to do more Haruhi (which will sell) or more FMP (which might not) and it is another thing to make a new show that may or may not sell well (Nichijou might not be all that successful, but it is amusing).

K-On will (like Haruhi) sell, but in addition to this they will get massive numbers of CD singles and album sales in addition to te normal DVD/BR sales and sales of figures and the like. It is the music that is like printing money on top of making money they got from DVD sales. This in turn I assume as boosted the manga sales to the point where it was restarted, not just in one, but in two magazines.

I'm hoping for more on the new girls when Azusa's part comes out in the next week or two. Then maybe something for Mugi to do in college a few weeks after that.

OH OH !!! How about Mugi's older sister being at the same university and in the K-On !!! yeah... that would be .... something...

The anime did exactly what is was supposed to do: promote Kakifly's manga. Of course, sales are nowhere near the top 3 of all time, but I'm sure they're a lot better than before the anime at the very least.

Anyway, I hope we'll learn more about who's gonna play what in the next chapter.

Yea, I think that should paint most of the picture but I'm betting Mugi-chan does see Sumire as a wee sister of sorts.

Just a pity there wasn't any small hints from before, injecting a character at that point still feels a little odd but Sumire's win factor brushes over that pretty well.

I just hope we get more from both Mugi-chan and Sumire in following chapters.

K-ON! already ended in such nice, warped with beautiful ribbon of the 5th symphony (if I may said)

No they will only be three years apart since Japanese high schools only have three year.

The University arc will resonate with readers who can look back at their lives and go ,"Yeah, my uni days were different from high school. But, both made me who I am." I am really looking forward to this arc being animated.

Wouldn't it be four since Sumire doesn't enter until after the others graduate? (If it was an American High School, Sumire would be a Freshman when Mugi was a Senior).

Well I'd think it could be either 3 or 4 just depending on how far apart there DOB is.
Either way she's a few years younger so still falls into what I think that Sumire is basically imouto-chan to Mugi-chan
I'd love to see a over protective Mugi-chan

It's just a pity we don't get to see any of the anime original characters make an apperance, hopefully if another anime appears we get to see some of the old classmates, still got huge love for Hime-chan!
