i wonder if the ultimate goal is to have the Neets pay raising for the virutal kids. Virtual Diapers, Virtual nannies, virtual baby formula, Virtual schools fees when older, etc.

PETA draws flak for comparing seaworld "slavery" to... slavery.

HAHAHAHHAHA, cough cough. Did you just say slavery?

I like the fact that it ends with a first.

It's the end bit that's the funniest:

Quote:
617 people

The amount the population has grown while you've been on this site
Holy crap.

Yeah, you might say humans breed like rabbits. Well, we're actually closer related to rabbits than our pet dogs and cats.

I was right at the end of the ".5 to 1 billion"" flatline through most of human history. Seriously, humans can do stupendous amounts of damage even in small numbers (e.g. Easter Island, Sahara desert, Pacific Northwest rainforests, etc). The question is, will we remain "cancerous" to the planet or manage to punch our "crazy factions" in the head and evolve to some sustainable model?

i like to take issue with the word "cancerous" as that implies that Human can effectively kill the Earth. i think that is giving humans too much credit and too little credit to Life itself. It might not look like anything humans can recognize but as long as one bacteria survives, life will go on.

I'll stand by cancerous.... even if the cancer "kills" the patient, the component entities in the host can still carry on (skin bacteria, gut bacteria, etc). And no, it won't kill "the Earth" but it can effectively destroy everything past the multi-cellular stage and hey, wheee "life" is back to a nearly blank blackboard. But the point is, *humans* should want to manage their sandbox so they can continue for the foreseeable future. We're one of the few species that CAN think outside the sandbox so its a matter of utter facepalm that we're letting factions within the species wallow in short term glory at the expense of the future.

Lestat and Louie feel sorry for vampires that sparkle in the sun. They would never hurt immortals who choose to spend eternity going to high school over and over again in a small town —— anymore than they would hurt the physically disabled or the mentally challenged. My vampires possess gravitas. They can afford to be merciful.
not my favorite author but at least she knows how to write.
