BTW, what is this "Side Arms 2" (サイドアームズ2) that is mentioned before "Voice from the North"? is it another story?

It's the book the story is published in. There are three distinct types of books released for Full Metal Panic!

The 1st ones are the main story novels - Tatakau Boy Meets Girl is 1-1, Hashiru One Night Stand is 1-2, etc.

The 2nd ones are the short story novels. More specifically, ones with the stories Fumoffu was based off - Houtte Okenai Lone Wolf is 2-1, Honki ni Narenai Nishi Manrui is 2-2 etc.

The 3rd ones are the Side Arms novels, which are also short story compilations. These ones, however, are pretty heavy on the Mithril side of things, where the others are more Jindai centric. Side Arms ~Ontei wa Kanashiku, Shatei wa Tooku~ is 3-1 and Side Arms 2 ~Kyokuhoku Kara no Koe~ is 3-2. There is no 3-3 as of right now.

(If this would make more sense if I scanned in the covers that show these number designations, I could very easily do that as I have at least one book from each section ^^)

Explain, you made more confused
I know of the difference between the main story and the side storys, but is it necesary to make a third category? I think just telling which is the volume the story came from is easier... maybe.

I'm not really into the side stories much. If someone translates them, I will occasionally read them. They keep me in tune, so I don't forget about the series.

Here's hoping next month's is something new, I should know in about 2-3 weeks. I'll be happy even if we get DVMC rather than a bunch of short stories...

It's a short story (Japanese title is Kyokuhoku Kara no Koe) in Kalinin's point of view that shows his and Sousuke's past together. It's a pretty sad story, the things they've gone through, how Sousuke wound up in the life he has... It's a great read, too, the translator has done an amazing job with it. ^^

Sounds quite interesting, I always wondered about their past history.

Wow , this manga , it's been a while ^^
I decided to re-watch some episodes , specially thoses fumoffu's episodes XD and it's always as hilarious as before
So , now that season 4 isn't announced yet ( if yes , Will it be Kyoto or Gonzo ? ) , i read some firsts chapters from Sigma .
There are some modifications , like the episode when Melissa was disguised and found the traitor who was a male , in the manga it's a woman or the 2 Gauron's disciple who was chinese , in the manga there are western girl ..
Ow this is hard to find the chapters/volumes subbed .

By manga, you must mean Sigma. And yeah, english ones are not far. Read the novels yet?

IMO, novels are better than Sigma. But that's just me. I would read the novels, because they go pretty far along in the story, but maybe that isn't what you're looking for.
