I tried to listen to this and couldn't get through more than a few songs. I absolutely love the FF7 soundtrack, but all these amateur mixes just sounded horrible. There are quite a few good remixes on ocremix, just none of this mix IMO.

Yeah, that album is really sick. I highly recommend downloading it from their website(legally) to anyone who's a fan of Final Fantasy VII.

Also, the rest of the site is great too.

most of these songs were made by the same ppl who made the other mixes on ocremix, usually in collaboration with each other, and this has been a project going on for awhile now [now its obviosly finsihed] so i dunno if u could rly call it amateurish, but like i said it mite not appeal to every1, infact i didnt like a few of the tracks and preferred some of the ocremix version over it too.

Yeah I discovered this about a month ago. Since I haven't played FFVII to completion, I only know a fraction of the songs. I just wish there were more songs like disk 1, track 5 - faster, more hype.

There's only a few nice songs in my opinion. Nothing really great, more like over-hyped.. but that's just my opinion

@kadenza

I take it you browse the OCR forums often?

I don't like the submissions of that site nowadays. I'd rather listen to .spc or .nsf files rather than the recent mixes the composers have been churning out. It just doesn't feel the same anymore. Whats your thoughts on that?

ya, as a fellow musician/producer i see a general trend in ocr tracks where the focus of the tracks is more on the synth quality richness/sound quality [and also the repeated use of similar synths/instruments] rather then melody, arrangement etc resulting in pretty boring stuff, i.e. too formulated for its own good [less artistry , creativity, ingenuity] =/ i still cant believe no1 on it has done a good tekken 2 intro track remix but meh nvm, the originals pretty hard to beat imo

The majority of ocremixes this days seem to be trance remixes, which are way over done and frankly are quite boring most of the time.

I don't know about "original" or boring stuff, but I really like "Pot Hocket - Sleep, My Sephy (Judgment Day)". After I got Voices of the Lifestream, I put that on loop for 30+ minutes while I look a quick nap.
