This just has BAN MIDO written all over it! Then again the character Ban his to share his title as main character with does have a lot of traits you don't seem to like. And Ban doesn't use weaponry... He just uses his supernatural strenght, his wits and his haxxor eye ability.

So yeah you might wanna give Getbackers a try. At least one of the titular Getbacks has just wat you're looking for personality wise.

I'm gonna have to warn you though. The first few episodes are pretty happy go lucky until shit hits the fan.

Slayers, perhaps? Lina Inverse, the "Dragon spooker", is pretty much a synonym for an utter magical overkill. And the plot is an old-school D&D kind of adventure, if you like that kind of stuff.
