OMG, this arc is just soooo well done. Animation so far, especially this episode, have been superb! Can't wait for next episode! Hinata is awesome... I'm going to have to jump onto that boat now....

This episode touched my heart. It's been awhile since a chapters worth of material had that kind of effect on me. I'll be among the first to admit that I rather liked all the filler moments and some of the liberties the anime team took advantage of (such as immediately going after the rods instead of Pein).

Oh my god lol, i voted a 10... i've been reading the manga for ages and i knew what would happen but im actually crying like a baby even 5-10 minutes after i've watched it haha, they did this episode amasingly well lol i better blow my nose so i'll stop sniffling.. !

It's funny how catastrophic an episode can be...someone caught a glimpse of Hinata getting owned while I was watching, then they called another guy saying "dude, Hinata's dead!", and then everyone in the library went OMIGEEEE HINATA'S DEAD!!!! I was surprised by the number of people who were following the anime though

Look, the complaints about this ep is wrong. So what's going on in this storyline?

How the hell does Naruto, who's scared as shit of ever becoming the 9 tails beast again, whined up releasing that power again? It's the sudden and sickening death that totally mindfucked him and totally lost control of the 9 tails in him. Why? Because she repeated the same things Naruto said AND tried to free him until the very end because she believed his words. And he holds those words more valuable than anything else. You could just see it in those bulging eyes of Naruto's. So the EXECUTION of the release of the 9 tails was spot on 10 for 10 perfect. Not done in any cheezy way. Yes the flashbacks were long, but up until now I couldn't figure why she fell in love with him. It's a shame he won't remember what she said to him, but that's poor Hinata for ya.

On the other hand, Pain is in bad shape. Why did he let this situation get like that? Didn't care if Naruto released the 9 tails?

Oh and I always thought in the opening theme that Naruto when all 9 tails because of Jiraiya's death when he would find out Pain killed him. So it was an interesting twist that works better this way.

Great episode. I loved getting new moves from Hinata. Naruto's emotions exploding into the 9-tails was excellent. The way they showed the eyes change was tremendous.

Wouldn't the Kyuubi explosion have incinerated her poor dead body? From the way the anime made it seem, it looked like Pain was just barely out of the blast radius of the Kyuubi transformation, and since Hinata was right next to Pain, shouldn't she be fricasseed? It would be funny if Naruto was the one who actually killed Hinata by going Kyuubi...

I think this is about having just any romance or leaving it out completely. Why should Hinata say those words with a very clear and strong meaning if romance would be meaningless? I want it to be either part of the story or left out completely. I hate this half-baked "Oh, there's a boy... uhm... I kind of like him... well... yes... whatever..." bullshit. You know what I mean.

More importantly, I totally liked the fighting scenes and additional material. I don't watch the anime to see nothing but a colored repetation of the manga. Of course it's arguable if the results are better or worse, but at least there's some additional material.

This isn't really about romance. This is about pure character development. For the first time in over a hundred episodes (hell, all of Shippuden and most of the original series), Hinata was developed as a character, and her development was far superior to the manga's interpretation of her (Anime Hinata > Manga Hinata).

Too bad she was then killed...
