Unlike 00, Seed's first 5 Gundam's numbering is kinda random, since we have X207 Blitz and X303 Aegis after X105.
Like Seed, 00 also has side stories. I predict that GN-004 will be the main suit for the main character in one of the side stories.

Saji Crossroad (the Japanese student) seems to have no role in the story at the moment... So perhaps he becomes the GN-004 pilot after his girlfriend or sister die or something...
Or maybe one of them becomes the pilot after he dies. Same either way.

Yeah, like that chess character in the manga Dai no Daibôken, the Rook one. It was first a huge, slow and heavy character, but when Hadlar was in danger the piece split in two and revealed a slimmer and faster warrior. I doubt they'd do the same with Virtue but the big armor could be removable, maybe.

Aren't most Gundam shows have 5 starting Gundams?
The last one is probably out there somewhere, probably Celestial Beings has it, but no pilot good enough for it? If it does exist, I do have a feeling that it may be a close-range type, since besides the Exia, the others look like mid->long range types (doesn't mean they don't have close-range weapons, though). |

Exia - Well balanced but no obvious specialty compared to the other three.
Dynames - Sniper and long-range support. Kyrios - Best at hit and run and the sole transformable Gundam. Virtue - Its all about speaking softly and carryins some heavy guns. All four are above average compared to the rest of the mechs used so far. Not as the 'ultimate robot' as the gundams in Gundam Wing did but still above average. All four probably could handle close combat just as well. But indeed. I'd like to see a 5th one sometime. What would its specialty be? The one thing that would be likely would be a stealth based one.

Those are actually both really insightful ideas. I don't want that Japanese student to die, but you're right about him just being there...and I think it would be totally awesome if we got a female Gundam pilot, just in the name of equality and realism.
