The TV version of the fight was even better thanks to the fixed animation. Pure awesome. Pre-orders should shoot up after this episode. If they don't even after this, then we can say goodbye to a second season, which would be a big shame given how much better 2wei is.
This will probably remain the highlight of the series for me but I'm eagerly looking forward to the next episode... for different reasons.

Well, they definitely drew out the first part of the episode. Presumably that was to heighten the emotional impact (although the entire point in the manga was about how much of a shock it was), but still, they made something that took a few seconds originally last several minutes of showtime and an unknown (given the cutaway) but apparently quite lengthy period of in-universe time.
The good news is that the second half of the episode makes none of that matter. Because it was freaking awesome. And yes, this is what you pull out Emiya for. Aside from the obvious connection with using the Archer card, it is also just the perfect background music for when the protagonist pulls something seriously badass like this. And speaking of music, I feel I should ask here, where there's enough folks who may have an answer. That piece of music that played when Miyu was carrying Illya home, does anyone know what it is? It is giving me a distinct feeling of nostalgia that says "this is a piece of Fate history" but I can't seem to locate the specific piece of music. Am I imagining things? It really feels familiar.

I have to say watching the two versions side by side that the improved action really did make an impact. It was a pretty sweet fight in the lower res version, but the extra movements and removing stock footage just brought it up another level.
Going to have trouble not watching this fight over and over again really .

Magnificent.
~Simply Magnificent~ What an episode! This was like a freaking cinematic experience. The BGM and visuals in this episode... masterful. Big kudos to everybody involved in the production of this episode. The Illya-becomes-a-Heroic-Spirit bit was a shocking and impressive plot twist that lead into a superbly executed final fight against the Saber Class Card. And the incredibly visceral emotionality of what came before it - Splendid! Wow, I haven't seen anything like this since the conclusion to Madoka Magica! Prisma Illya does magical girl so so so well. The final bit with Miyu carrying Illya home was truly adorable too. I love this anime!

Those who know me know I'm ridiculously picky when it comes to giving something a perfect score, but this episode earned it. This is easily the best episode of the series so far, in no small part thanks to what is quite possibly the best fight scene I've ever seen outside of a finale. The buildup to said fight was also magnificently well done, and the post-credits scene was one of the more charming moments I've come across. Absolutely marvelous work on the part of the people behind this.
Much like Triple_R said before me, I absolutely love this series. Oh, and one more thing... Quote:

Okay, this episode did it for me. At first I wasn't sure what to expect. Then I wasn't sure what to think. Now I'm positive that this thing is more than worthy of the name "Fate".
I didn't expect that Emiya remix. That was pretty amazing. The fight was so amazing too. I did get kind of puzzled when Illya traced Excalibur though. I mean, there's probably a rational explanation for it, but the mana required to trace Excalibur is astronomical. Even Archer couldn't do it. Like I said, there's probably a rational explanation for it, but it did surprise me, I mean all that mana had to come from somewhere. |

Best episode so far & dat theme. The sword fight probably animated by Hironori Tanaka is the best part
I had read the manga but I'm surprised how this series can provide good action scenes, I didn't expect this much so I'm pleasantly surprised. There're still some digital effects I can't bear and the first part of the episode may be too long otherwise it was pretty good. Quote:
