Audio Recording Software?
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good freeware audio recording software. I'd prefer to get one that records the audio exactly as it's heard, rather than downgrading the quality. It'd also be nice if it didn't have any time limitations to the recording. I'm sure some of you AMV makers know of some kind of program that can help me.
Thanks, Cheese |

If you are using a source other than CD or DVD; try CoolEdit. I think they still offer a shareware / trial version that should cover what you need (I'm assuming you use windows ?).
If the source is a DVD or CD you want to get some audio-extraction software; don't bother trying to record the source using recording software it will never produce as good results. Search Google for what is available -- there are loads of "rippers" out there. You might want to check a site devoted to AMVs and see what they say? |

Not sure what the limitations on the evaluation version are tho... :/ At the very least, you can try using bundled software that came with your soundcard. |

I have a question similar to this, and figured, why start a new thread, so forgive me for breaching, Cheese. I'm looking for a program (freeware, shareware, or otherwise) to extract audio out of an avi file. Anyone have any suggestions?

VirtualDub was great, thanks again. It only took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to extract the audio. I don't have a fricken clue what else it can do though, there were so many settings and menus and thing, I couldn't make out right from left, haha. It's a tiny program though, and served my function nicely.
