Casshern Sins (2008)

キャシャーン SINS
Casshern SINS

Genre: sci-fi
Adaptation/remake of the 1973 series "Shinzo Ningen Casshan."

This remake was announced at this year's TAF. Production will be done by madhouse, with Shigeyasu Yamauchi as director, Yasuko Kobayashi doing series composition, and Yoshihiko Umakoshi doing character designs.

Air date is Fall 2008. In the original series, a group of robots created by Dr. Azuma go out of control when they determine that humans are harmful to the earth's ecosystem. After the robots have gained control of Earth, the doctor's son, Tetsuya, decides to have himself turned into a cyborg for the purpose of defeating these robots and freeing mankind from their rule.

A live-action movie adaptation by Kazuaki Kiriya was released in 2004.

Kiriya's movie was one of the dumbest I've ever seen, but this looks like it has respect for the original Casshern. This is good.

Wow... so much old 70's stuff is back in vogue these days.

Are we going to see a new Devilman anime soon?

A new Devilman anime from Madhouse or P-IG that runs on a satelight channel could be pretty damn awesome. I for one loved the Maou Dante series on AT-X.

Moonphase has updated the tentative title to "Casshern SINS." Still listed as a Fall 2008 show.

I kind of liked the Casshern movie well enough to have bought the dvd (yep, I did such a thing!) Only complaint I had really was the length and the overstuffing of themes. There were actually some great dialogue and some good scenes, though I can't say the same for film in its entirety. Visually, though, it's pretty epic.

I can't wait to see the remake. It sounds ace.

New PV which came out yesterday, shows Casshern tearing up some robots. The color scheme of the shown fight reminds me of Claymore for some reason.

Oh my hahaha, that's just perfect. I don't know why, though i find it funny when i hear Tohru in new roles. He's a good choice for Azuma though.
