Boy, you guys sure are making me feel nostalgic.

I got into Jojo around 2002-ish.... a couple years before I got into One Piece, even! Of course, around the time there was an even MORE limited amount of available English chapters (the first three parts weren't even fully translated at the time, if memory serves me right). I even remember how excited I was when SBR began..... ah, good times. Of course, I too am grateful to all parties involved in bringing us English Jojo (and yes, that even counts whoever it was who brought us the horrible "DUWANG" scans for part 4).

im in part 4 now and its awesome. i find part 3 pretty boring and the worst of all, maybe only polnareff is likeable in entire main cast, everyone besides him is just ok and pretty boring.

in contrast, ALL of part 4 main cast all are pretty colorful, unique and interesting. especially koichi, this brown(in part2)-like unnecesary character actually pretty interesting and got so much developtment

the storyline in part 3, obviously the most boring. place A > vs stand A > place B > vs stand B > .... > Z. sure maybe part 1 kinda like that, but its short so its not too boring. the problem in part 3 that its pretty darn long, the fight is 'just like that' and uninteresting, even fight against dio is pretty quick. i was hoping all the main cast will teamwork him, but its just asspull that jotaro can use imba time stop too.

again, in contrast, the storyline in part 4... is kind of not a storyline, its just daily life of josuke and his friends, meeting another stand user and befriend with them afterwards and join josuke's daily life in the next next chapter like the harvest and yandere girl. and its more interesting and relaxing this way.

well tl;dr part 4>2>1>3. i hope part 5-8 are better

Actually, speaking of part 4, are the revised scans complete yet? Last I checked, they still had a bit of a ways to go (I think the last arc I read was Highway Star, but I'm not entirely sure here). I wanna read the complete revised series soon so I can read it back-to-back with the Duwang version!

The last they did was the Enigma fight, I think (Or was it cheap trick? It was back in January). I think that group wants to release all of the remaining volumes in one go, so it's gonna take a while for them to be done with it.

just finished Part 5, Vento Aureo

this part is kinda similar to part 3 which for me is pretty boring. but of course, this part is better because of all the main cast actually have personality and character. unlike flat and mediocre part 3 main cast minus polnareff (and he is back here). Giorno introduced as interesting character, as well as buccellati, the best character in part 5 with 'strongest' personality. and of course with cool stand power. giving life wow are you jesus?

the plot is alright, joining the mafia and throw away the boss. just the minus point of this part maybe the villain is not memorable AT ALL. just like dio's 'one week friend' in part 3. and diavolo, the final boss itself, is just like dio. he appear in very last arc and have developtment at all. i can say the same with part 3 dio. he is shit. compared to part 1 with ton of developtment, he is definitely best villain ever before yoshikage kira appeared. but in part 3, he is just shit.

and one thing i really dont like in this part, the conclusion and the ending. wtf is that Deus Ex Machina arrow? suddenly they can control "soul" all over the place and become literally god-like. what the hell is that Gold EXP Requiem? i dont get the "turn to zero" ability thing. and ability to make diavolo endless loop, even itachi sharingan ability has more sense. very similar to jotaro's sudden time stop asspull. anti-climatic and boring.

tl;dr its similar to part 3 but better in every aspect
part 4>2>1>5>3

Another month, another new chapter! I haven't found the full raw yet (at the time of this post, at least), but there IS a script translation out:

Spoiler for JJL 32:

-The battle between Josuke and Yotsuyu continues. As the architect continues assaulting them with pesticide, he tells Norisuke that he intends to steal the Higashikata family's land and wealth. However, Josuke uses his ability to push the architect into the sea, and also reveals that he can contain his voice inside the bubbles to speak with the enemy underwater! He then has Norisuke help him set a trap with nets to force Yotsuyu to sink to the ocean's depths. Apparently, Yagiyama doesn't need to breathe while he's in his rock form, so Josuke's plan is to have him either fess up about his true identity, or stay as a statue in the ocean bottom forever. Interestingly, Yotsuyu confesses that he "killed" Josuke the first time after putting him between some rocks, but blames both Kira Yoshikage and the Wall Eyes for his survival. The architect then prepares to activate his ability again, but Josuke stops him..... by using his bubbles to remove the air from his lungs. As Josuke asks him one more time about his true identity, Yotsuyu warns him that the Higashikata family will eventually betray him, and the only person whose actions are "correct" is Tsurugi. Suddenly, his body starts breaking apart, and he finally succumbs to death.

Afterwards, both Josuke and Norisuke investigate the deceased enemy's body. Norisuke is surprised, as it seems Yotsuyu may not have even been human. Josuke reveals that he didn't actually intend to kill him, so he only took a small amount of air from his lungs. Yet despite this, Yotsuyu died anyway. Nori says he'll not only have the corpse examined, but make a background check on the man, as well. However, the young Tsurugi says he did some investigation of his own, and could not find any information about the architect. Nori shrugs that off, and points out another mystery: Yotsuyu's apparent lack of a penis. He asks Josuke if it got washed away in the ocean, or if the man even had one at all. He concludes that if he did have one, then it must have drifted off towards Hawaii by now (looooolll

). He also surmises that the man probably has comrades of similar origin, as well.

Tsurugi asks if Yotsuyu had any food on him, as he recalls him feeding something to a dog that "cured" it of the mysterious rock disease. Josuke notes that he DID see that food, but it drifted off in the ocean. He comes to the conclusion that he originally arrived in Morioh because he "knew" something about the disease, and Yagiyama intended to snuff him out because of that very information. "Yotsuyu", "rock human", "a disease that turns you into a rock", "Kira and his mother Holly"..... all of these things are somehow connected to the mystery disease. Furthermore, it seems Yotsuyu's "food", some sort of fruit, may also be a crucial clue to this mystery. Meanwhile, Yasuho finally wakes up......

*Whistles* My goodness, this is quite the info-packed chapter we've got here! Gappy once again shows off how broken his stand is, Yotsuyu may not even be a human (wonder if this Araki's new take on the Pillar Men, heh

), yet another addition to the strange crotch-related patterns of this storyline, and apparently there's some sort of magical fruits to worry about now (Devil Fruits in Jojo!?

). Looking forward to the full release of the chapter for sure!

I'm still kinda leaning towards the rock people being an alternate version of the Pillar Men. Besides, it would actually be cool to see Araki do an alternate take on Cars, heh.

Man, I nearly forgot about Araki's birthday. Well, I wish him a happy belated birthday myself, as well! And yes, I'm actually looking forward to the translation of the Jorge Joestar novel, myself. I remember reading a translation a while back of an excerpt where Erina recounts the details of the aftermath of Jonathan's death, and I found it quite interesting, indeed.....

And of course, now that I know that the revised Part 4 translation is done, it's about time I get crackin' on that, as well!

That special time of the month is here again!

I didn't see a full raw yet, but at least a translation of the script is out:

First, we get a brief summary from Josuke about the recent events regarding Yagiyama Yotsuyu. Afterwards, Yasuho wakes up again and greets Josuke, but she soon gets sent back home by Nori, as he believes she's better off not knowing about Yotsuyu. He then says that he's having a chemical analysis being done on the architect's corpse, and has already discovered that the mystery man has stolen the identity of a child with no family over a decade ago, who's probably dead. He warns both Josuke and Tsurugi to not reveal that info to anyone, not even fellow members of the Higashikata family.....

Meanwhile, the dog that Yotsuyu had fed previously has returned! And not only that, it's munching on the piece of mystery fruit that Yasuho had last chapter! Norisuke examines it, saying that it smells a lot like a fig. Josuke asks if it's possible to track the fruit's source using King Nothing, but Nori says they need to do a bit more investigation on the fruit first, as it could have came from overseas. That being said, he decides to head to the office of his fruit parlor, which has records of all known fruits in the word!

Nori and Josuke head to the fruit parlor, where Nori gives an explanation of how he conducts his business (particularly that he makes sure to only sell the freshest fruits). Before they go to the actual office though, Nori treats Josuke to a parfait (which looks absolutely mouth-watering!

). Interestingly, during their little dessert break, they have an unexpected run-in with the eldest son of the Higashikata family.... Joubin! Turns out he came back from overseas. He and Josuke then introduce themselves to each other, and Joubin gives him various souvenirs (like a stag beetle, a wristwatch, etc...). Then, if I'm not mistaken, Joubin drops something that may or may not be related to that mystery fruit (can't tell without pictures, sorry!

). He picks it up with a handkerchief, and it seems that Nori's stand has already picked up the smell from it.....

Yeah, this chapter's a bit uneventful compared to the last couple, but I think it's interesting, nonetheless. I mean, at least we're finally introduced to Tsurugi's father, after all! Dunno what to think about him yet due to the scarcity of pics, unfortunately (though Araki sure wasn't slow in making him look suspicious). Oh, and speaking of Tsurugi, he gave a name to that dog: Iwasuke! Now I'm wondering if that dog will gain a stand ability....

And I was right! Joubin IS connected to those fruits somehow! I still don't really know what to think about him, though. He seems like a pretty cheerful guy but, otherwise I can't really gauge anything else about him. Gotta see some more interaction between him and Josuke and co. before I can properly judge him, I guess....

Also, that dog MUST be a stand user. He just kinda phased right through a wall like it was nothing. Maybe Iwasuke is gonna be something like the Iggy of part 8?

Oh, and I was rather amused by Josuke's little fantasy about Yasuho!

Jobin does have a cool design. It's indeed hard to gauge him. He seems pretty cheery and friendly, but there's something about him that makes me uneasy. There's his connection to the fruit of course, but I didn't like how he forced his gift on Josuke either.

Looks like I got something a bit mixed up in my above summary, due to the earlier lack of scans..... I thought Joubin had Josuke's beetle fight the wasp, but it looks like it was his own. But damn, did that match end quickly. Heh, I made a joke earlier about Joubin having a bug stand, but maybe he's meant to be the next D'arby the Gambler instead?

Later, Josuke has a private conversation with Tsurugi, asking him what his father's stand ability is. He plans to corner Joubin in order to learn of his connection to the mysterious fruit. He also says he has yet to share his intentions of confronting Joubin to Norisuke, as he most likely would not seek the truth of the fruit at the expense of his own child. Tsurugi, on the other hand, is at a position where he MUST know the truth, which is why Josuke is only confiding with the boy..... Naturally, the child is hesitant to cooperate at first, but he eventually gives in, making Josuke promise to not harm his father. He then explains that Joubin's weakness is stag beetles. It turns out that he raises his own collection of the bugs, and is more childish than Tsurugi when it comes to his hobby. He also likes to have the beetles fight, and if Josuke manages to defeat him with the beetle he was given last chapter, the collector's pride will be damaged and he may just be willing to cough up the necessary information. And so, Josuke puts this plan underway, managing to gradually persuade Joubin to have their beetles fight, and placing bets in the process. Joubin takes the bet (saying he'll give away a Hercules beetle if he loses), but first has Josuke's beetle participate in a "warm-up" round of sorts in order to raise its fighting spirit. However, the beetle's opponent is not another beetle, but.... a wasp. If it dies, it's Josuke's loss. As the match starts, Joubin asks Josuke just what exactly is he willing to bet..... My, this is a very interesting chapter..... so suddenly Jojo's turned into Pokemon, eh? Joubin's starting to become more interesting for me, as well. So I guess his stand power is related to bugs, then? Oh snap, is this the return of Tower of Grey!?

Looks like I got something a bit mixed up in my above summary, due to the earlier lack of scans..... I thought Joubin had Josuke's beetle fight the wasp, but it looks like it was his own. But damn, did that match end quickly. Heh, I made a joke earlier about Joubin having a bug stand, but maybe he's meant to be the next D'arby the Gambler instead?
