I think this episode really brings out what is characteristic of Sorata as the male lead character. He is a good person, but he is not strong: To succeed, or sometimes even to do the right thing, he needs the help of his friends. Luckily he is a person people love to help. Even Rita, who seemed to be about to take something away from him, was actually trying to help him. Manami is sacrificing her own happiness for him, is she not? I hope this will not go without reward eventually. She is the kind of woman parents would want their son to marry.

But I think what makes him different from other MCs in the same genre as Sakurasou is that he's NOT a wimp and actually has leadership skills, unlike most MCs who only gets shat on by their harem and all the people around them.

It's unfair to categories this with harem shows though. I see it more as romance comedy with huge emphasis on the theme of "finding your own success". There's substantial amount of meat in the story.

I didn't say Sakurasou is a harem show. I'm just saying that Sorata is not like any male leads out there whom even the other members of the cast don't ever take seriously. Shit MCs just take whatever abuse they give on them and keep whining about it when they can at least actually do something to make the other cast members respect him.

For the dude who just confess this episode: He couldn't possibly picked a worse time. He could clearly see that Nanamin's in the hurry for some urgent matter, yet he just go Rambo on her with his confession. Even if a guy has a great chance to sway a girl's feeling, poor timing can turn it into a failure.

And Mashiro, why do you keep seeking counsel from cats?

You might have done the best confession ever, but bad timing totally kills that. To add insult to injury, you may not even be able to confess to her ever again.

Very nice episode. And I think Ryuunosuke x Rita is the most interesting pair. Hope she comes back soon.

At this halfway juncture, I'd say that I've not watched such a nice romance + slice-of-life comedy x drama series which can strike some cords of the heart (both heartrending & heartwarming kind) since the days of Toradora. And it's still kind of hard (for me in the perspective of a viewer) to decide who to go with, Nanami or Mashiro.

I actually like how they did it though maybe because I don't have any light novel knowledge but JC did great if I just watch it.

And Timing is indeed important in confession. It reminds me of school rumble season 1 ED song. TIMING

really important to set the atmosphere which also helps and knowing the right atmosphere means you know the right timing.

Nyaboron was really corny... in a very good way. Sorata and the others should have predicted people would be very reluctant to shout out their feelings. It all worked out fine in the end but it could have easily been a disaster.

That scene showing some random guy confessing to Nanami came out of nowhere. There was no build-up to it and it felt completely out of place. It might have been better to leave this out, but perhaps it will become more relevant in the future.

Ryuunosuke x Rita is a very interesting pairing. I hope Rita will come back soon. She was a pretty entertaining character who fit right in Sakurasou.

I guess he didn't make much of an impression on me.

I didn't miss it. I just forgot about it. That's the drawback of watching so many shows at once. You can't possibly remember everything, especially not when the show in question is not one of your favorite.

Add to that that I have a tendency to disregard anything related to the loser friend of the MC (since I can only count a handful of shows where these type of characters ended up being important), and there you have it.

Next time, I'll try searching through my memories a little harder before opening my mouth.

I have to admit myself but Rita is playing them around, especially kissing Dragon-kun without warning at the airport… Heck, it’s super effective!
