You know, I can't help but wonder if this might find it's way into AKB0048 some how. Would definitely make sense, as the series already mimics AKB48 in almost ever other way.

Yay, Makoto! Way to recover. I told you that the "realness" of your personality would shine through to people. Sure, you don't have the raw talent or the charisma of some of your amazing teammates. But when people see you on the screen, they know without a doubt that what they are seeing is the real you: not something that was faked just to appeal to them. And that in and of itself will touch people's hearts.

You may never reach the level of someone like Chieri. She is a different person than you. She has talents and training and a personality that you do not have. But that does not mean you will not reach out to people. You are an idol, Makoto. Your kirara confirmed it. You are one of the shining stars of AKB0048. Nice episode! Makoto was in need of some love, and the scene with her hair down and the kirara was pretty good.

So the Star Wars like thing was a fortress infiltration, deactivation and running away.
I thought Chieri's father was influential on the D.G.T.O., but he may even be the boss of it behind the scenes. At least those were the vibes I got from that last scene.

This was good for his plans too. Because Tsubasa thought the reason the DES did things like in the trial, was for their illegal casino. So she may stop looking on it now, even thought the research Sono dad is doing is likely much more dangerous to AKB004.

Now I wonder if when the DGTO don't need AKB0048 anymore (like when the research is complete/succeeds), will them have to power to give a decisive strike on the idols and Akibastar?

A shining example to those in the world who have dealt with failure and issues of confidence

. Agree there is no doubt what you see with Makoto is what you get. It's completely real and that itself can get people's attention. Can be a good boost for people to see her fail, but keep on going despite that. I'm glad she got her episode this week.

It seems like everything is good long as they get more kirara data. Besides even if it's leaked that there is gambling behind the scenes that won't stop it from happening. Once the power came back on they were probably right back to gambling.

I do wonder what the end game is. Once they get the data they probably stop playing with kids gloves and seriously go after AKB0048.

Future episodes should be interesting.

The OP animation did change a bit in this episode. I wonder if it means they will be changing it from time to time, is if this is the "true" version, as it have less season 1 reused scenes than the one we got before.

That, however, some of us have kind of been wondering about. In terms of the trial, I don't think the gambling was the reason it was so easy to rescue the girls: I think that was more because of Zodiac.

In the end it's hard to tell whether DES is being incompetent because of actual, significant reasons, or just because the plot says that the girls don't get shot down.

The outstanding plotlines that come to mind (sensei-sensei, Acchan, Zodiac, Chieri, succession) all revolve in and around the kirara, and can likely all be worked on in one storyline. This isn't like last season where they had multiple storylines going off in different directions that needed their own episodes. A majority of this stuff can probably be worked on together. And that's assuming that they're planning on revealing all of those mysteries. The Center Nova thing will have to be addressed, but Sensei-Sensei may well remain a mystery forever, for example.

I personally hope they do. It's easier for the writers if they can't/don't want to provide answers. Then again, Kawamori really came up with ridicolous answers in EVOL, so I'm not really sure I want that kind of stuff.

Spoiler for Stage 18 spoilers: Sort of action filled episode with a focus on Makoto, who actually manages to do something right this time. There's a minimal part of Chieri adjusting post-elections, but I wouldn't call it meaningful. A few scenes aren't bad and a better focus (in a non comical way) on Makoto was long overdue. However the story didn't really advance, Chieri's father seems to keep working on his Ominous Plan, whatever that is, but just in the last part of the episode. I'd rather have Okada and Kawamori stop beating around the bush and start giving some decent answers, as there are only few episodes left.
