Yes, I know. I was just hoping it would be a surprise development for a character. Like the spy in the Hunt for the Red October.

I wasn't expecting like a phaser set on stun. Maybe something as a simple a tiny hypodermic needle or small nasal spray, like what the KGB used during the cold war. They haven't used clothe soaked Chloroform in movies since the 1940 (or on films that is set in one) since the use of it on victims could easily turn very fatal. No, I'm more happily amused at the fact that they're using some time honored film visual cues in a good way to make us more familiar in an otherworldly setting and understand the drama much better. Like Deck carriers in space and slow moving giant drill to give heroes time to deact...etc.

Wow the Yamato was almost wiped out it that fight. I guess they can thank the assassination team for getting out of there. Though i doubt Dessler is really dead. So Domel is part of the rebellion or at least his wife? Maybe they'll blame the assassination on him, but either way it seems like an inside job. Never thought Niimi would betray everyone, well at least she didn't want any bloodshed.

Misaki is in quite a pickle being possessed every now and then. Glad Shima just played along and wasn't really going with the plan. Good thing Hoshina was there to disrupt Ito's plan. They should have left him on Beemela. So now Yuki knows that she has some kind of relation with the Iscandarians. So they have 2 wave motion engines now right? So some guy made the wave motion engine.

That is absolutely not true. There are plenty of films, such as THE VANISHING (1993) with Sandra Bullock and Kiefer Sutherland, which are contemporary. Here's an A-Z list of movies in which Chloroform is used, and I saw one on the A-G list that was produced in 2002.

What if Wulf is assigned the task to get the Iscandarian off Yamato before Dommel is to blow it up? The infultrator is either an old plant from earlier in the war, or someone on Wulf's ship to make it less noticable. This happens before the Rainbow Galaxy fight (the reason Yuki isn't at the Radar station. They use the torpedo boat to get Yuki and the infultrator off Yamato. The crew try to track her down to a prison world but the sub takes her while they are on planet (Kodai yelling her name).

The scene of the twin planets is by Yuki on Wulf's bridge before being delivered to Dessler.

After re-watching ep 15, it's good Domel is soldier that really obey the order. And looks like most Gamilas soldier. If he ordering 15-20 battleship to stay, it maybe enough to defeat already crippled Yamato .

Sometimes soldier doesn't need listen order from the top, or modify decision based on the situation. Just like in episode 13 when Kodai launch Seagull.

Frankly I'm not too surprised. They've been dropping so many reminders and hints about Niimi's past involvement with the Izazumo plan for it to not come up. And the most likely way it could come up would be for them to abandon the Iscandar plan mid-mission.


It does make allot of sense that they'd have this mutiny occur AFTER that massive space battle where the Yamato almost got wiped out by massively superior enemy numbers using encirclement tactics. After a run in like that, quite a few of the crew likely began to have serious doubts over the viability of going through another stand up fight like that.

Episode 15 -

So I keep thinking that the Yamato has no chance since its just 1 ship up against thousands on enemy ships and it shows in this episode.

They almost got destroyed!

It was luck that the enemy ships got called back.

I watched it up to 18 and the only words that comes to mind is;

WOW ! !

The Story writers and had certainly gone into overdrive to give it another dimension to the original story making it more enjoyable and believable.

Especially episode 18, now that's what you call a spectacular getaway!!

Can't wait to see how this story unfolds to compare it with the original that really got me in when I was a kid.

I was rewatching episode 4 today and the scene where Sanada is saluting the Yukikaze and Niimi is in the back... after the backstory seen in episode 17 that scene looks sooooo different. She wasn't just overing over Sanada... her boyfriend's ship was down there. With every new episode and revelation, rewatching the older episodes becomes a whole new experience. Ito and Hoshina are like totally diferent characters now that i know what they'll be up to.

*ahem* Okay, moving on: the Yamato gives the massive Gamilas fleet what for and cuts through them like a (very) hot knife through butter. As a parting gift, it Wave Motion Guns the gate power system, taking out a huge chunk of the Gamilas fleet.

Looks like Yamamoto may be over Kodai now (good thing too, it's all too obvious to anyone in the series that further chasing-after of Kodai's heart wioll result in heartbreak for anyone not named Yuki) and has grown affection for.......Sunohara?! I suppose it's been hinted at......

And as veterans of the old series will remember, next episode............the sh** gets ready to fly. And it's not even the finale yet.

After watching this with subtitles, from the first viewing only, i ended up with 2 main questions:

1 - In episode 15, who is the person Yuria/Yurisha is refering to when she says "The Wave Motion Gun... That weapon of mass destruction. He must have made it"

2 - In episode 17, after Sanada tells Yuki about Yurisha's ultimate fate, Yuki wonders how the capsule ended up with her. Sanada is about to respond but he is interrupted when Kodai pushes him out of harms way, after a sentinel robot appears. He doesn't get back to the issue.

Surely more will appear with repeated viewing.


A thing that threw me off... subs in episode 17, in the court scene, read:

So, assuming the subs are correct... how long is a freakin' day on Garmillas?! It has obviously been at least a couple of days since that happened back in episode 15, at least long enough for the events of episode 16 to unfold. So, either something was mistranslated or Garmillan days are reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally long.
