I thought Orangeland is always at odds with Uncle Sam since the 2002 coup-de etat. Hugo Chavez decides to become the next North Korea with his recent "gringo fourth fleet" statement and extensively militarise his country. What this girl says does not seem to bode well for future relations between US and Venezuela.

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

Wow, Miss Universe should have her mouth taped shut for the remainder of her tenure. Open mouth, remove any doubt of retarded brainlessness.
Whether you agree with Guantanamo or not -- her descriptions are amazingly bizarre (RTFA).

Well, in her defense, she wasn't a prisoner, but a guest.

I'm not so sure about that. She was with a USO group and probably given a "sanatized" tour of the place. Most of the time was probably spent visiting the troops that don't have much to do with the actual prison. Guantanamo is a fully functional naval base after all, and from what I've heard does in fact have a nice beach. Or would if not for those pesky claymores and mines.

Came across this news article about cows today, not sure if it would qualify for a silly/odd news story though.

Thumbs up

While browsing through TV-Tropes, I came across a link to what is quite possibly, the most badass story I have had the pleasure of learning about. Quite comparable in terms of epic-badassery like the real-life 300 Spartans.

Link To Article (contains a measure of vulgarities if you're sensitive to that kind of thing)

The idea of a [SPOILER] is so awesome that you’d think it was something out of a bizarre cartoon or a Sci-Fi Channel Original Movie. It’s the sort of shit that, even with all of the historical evidence, seems too totally awesome to be true.
Cheers.

This kinda makes you lose faith in huamity real fast. The poor guy would have to fight to get his DNA removed from the database too...

If people are too honest then the cops will be out of job so thats why they try to discourage honesty. The new slogan will now be changed to "Honesty does not pay".

While looking for Zetsubou-sensei pictures for my fanclub, I found this:

Am I seeing this right? Whose idea is it to mix Naruto with Justice League? The idea sounds rather strange, yet at the same time.. It looks like Naruto will fit in with Justice League.

I have no clue, I assume it isn't from the legitimate companies.
