Sakamichi no Apollon is a first thing that popped into my head and fits perfectly.

I think Fate/Stay Night could do though it is more action orientated but romance stole most of the spot light at the end =/

GTO has one of my fave relationships which gets developed towards the end but the build up is at the start. No one really confessed there but the girl hates guys guts at first but eventually they build up a none forced relationship.

Green Green but it is other way around. It is a girl who confesses first. Though series re quiet perverted.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama! will do.

A bloody and reversed version is Mirai Nikki.

Regrettably, I have already watched/read most of the things suggested, but then I should have given a list or something. Anyway, thanks again. Hopefully, among the things I have not watched/read, I would find something that I am looking for, exactly.

I think Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (My Little Monster) best fits your requirement.

Boys Over Flowers comes to mind. It's an older slice of life/romance anime but it's really good imo.

Marmalade Boy sort of has this in the beginning but it's more that the main female protagonist dosen't have a clue what she wants and is angry about the new changes in her life

Both are great though
