You know where the main character is a prodigy at his sport.

except for hikaru no go, I already know about that one.

it's a great Anime
though I hope they make a 2. season in the future because the manga continue a lot further then the Anime.

Suzuka is horrible. Not not really focused on the sport either.

Hajime no Ippo is nice (boxing)

Eyeshield 21 - Sena is a talent for the rugby team
Slam Dunk - Sakuragi has great reflex abilities
Yakitate Japan (err...if you consider baking a sport) - or else Kazuma is a prodigy in it
Major - baseball
Angelic Layer - again if you consider virtual fighting a sport

if you won't mind old anime --- Touch
Whistle - soccers -- main protagonist is not a prodigy but earned his skills through hard work.

I second Slam Dunk and Hajime no Ippo. Great series.
Eyeshield 21 - its American Football not rugby, we dnt wear bullet proof armour :P

Whistle - was released with the football world cup in Japan
Hungry Heart Striker - about 1player going Pro to play with his brother, football
Dear Boys - Basketball - about an ace national winner player moving to a school with a poor basketball following.
Major - 3rd season currently ongoing, about Goro trying to make it pro in baseball to follow in his dad's footsteps.
Touch - kinda romance/baseball.
Prince of tennis - Tennis.
Initial D - Drifting racing series, very good.

since almost all of you said what I wan't...

I will second Hajime no Ippo ~ most nicest sports anime I had watched....

Major ~ also nice either....

Slam Dunk ~ Funny and nice....but I've been irritated to those Rukawa cheerer...

Air Gear- they fight with AT's or simply put it self-propelled roller blades. A little bit of romance/action/ecchi/and shounen

It's a pretty good show I hope they make a second season for it!

Major is the baseball version of Prince of Tennis - for better or for worse.

I also recommend Initial D. Tofu delivery boy becomes a street racing legend.
