IMHO, the English Voice Acting for Disgaea 2 sounded more right.
Midorikawa didn't seem particularly fond of voicing Adell (main male character) with such a drab tone.
And Rozalin, (Female Main Character. Also voiced by Yukari Tamura!) only gave a good time to listen to her voice when she was emotional.

Chapter Two:
The massive blue energy beam lanced out and slammed into the cruisers reinforced forward shields and barriers like a freight train. Excess energy washed over and around the shields creeping aft until the hull confirming shield was glowing a near blinding white from almost stem to stern as it desperately tried to redirect and radiate away the massive amount of energy it was absorbing across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. It nearly dead it, but as the beam died away the shields flickered and collapsed across the entire ship the last vestiges of the beam tore into the ship slagging the ships starboard engine nacelle, the ship was now effectively a cripple with only one engine and minimal steering.

This made it all two easy for both Railguns to lock on and strike the ship dead on the nose. The impact was again horrific and the vessel reeled under the hit her nose thrown nearly 30 degrees to port by the slightly off center impact that destroyed a large portion of her bow leaving only an outward facing cone composed of a mess of twisted wreckage where the ships sleek prow had once been.

Still this ship was probably around five to six times the weight of the destroyers and despite the magnitude of the hits it was still fairly intact and had a number of weapon systems remaining. Thus despite the massive damage and it’s almost certain doom the cruiser brought every still intact gun it had online and returned fire. No escape pods or other attempt to evacuate were noted and so it seemed the crew was determined to fight to the death no matter how futile it was.

“So how the FUCK did I end up on a planet in the ass end of no where getting shot at by a bunch of killer robots and mages!?” Felix cursed as he popped his device up over the top of the thick concrete wall he was hiding behind and fired a couple energy blasts timed to detonate near the enemy position. The shots blasted some chunks out of a couple of structures they where hiding but didn’t seem to do much else.

“Probably because you suck at contact negotiations… oh and incoming!”

Both of them quickly raised barriers as a barrage of high powered magic projectiles arced out of the sky and slammed down in their general area demolishing several buildings and obscuring the entire area in smoke from the blasts as well as hurling them to the ground despite their shields.

“That fucking bombardment mage is getting annoying.” Felix mumbled as he quickly regained his feet.

“Agreed, I think it’s time to do something about him.” Pixy replied darkly.

“We don’t have orders to go hunting him.” Felix remarked casually.

“When has that ever stopped us?” Pixy shot back gamely.

“Let’s roll.”

Seconds later both of them shot out of the thinning smoke cloud and straight past the surprised enemy forces skimming the ground at an altitude of about 5 feet and sticking behind terrain to cover their movements as they sped in the general direction most of the indirect fire seemed to be coming from.

Mitchell and his team where making good progress through the base thus far only having encountered a few weak drones and easily dispatched goons. The doors had proved slightly more a hassle but Carter had gotten past most of them easily enough, as she was going right now. She disconnected her device from the doors controls and signaled it was opened. She performed a quick scan of the area and located three mobile contacts on the other side.

Mitchell quickly ordered the team to stack up on either side of the door with Teal’c and Alan taking point. He opted to bring the kid since he felt a second melee fighter would be more useful in these tight corridors then a support caster like Daniel who could help better by holding down the fort outside. So far his planned seemed to be panning out the kid did exactly what he was told and when and seemed competent enough.

With the team in position Teal’c palmed a stun grenade and nodded at Alan who hit the door control. The barrier slid open and the grenade was quickly tossed inside were moments later a blinding flash and deafening roar was heard quickly followed by several voices confused shouting. The team piled in within moments Teal’c went left, Alan went right, and Mitchell the third man inside took the center. Alan and Teal’c both proceeded to
close in and savagely maul the hapless guards with their devices; Mitchell housed the third man with a stream of bolts knocking him to the ground and out cold.

“Well this doesn’t seem so tough.” Alan remarked happily as his target slumped to the ground after a through pummeling via his device.

“Don’t say stuff like that!” Mitchell chastised him wincing.

“Why not— hey what happened to the lights?” Alan pondered aloud as all the lights in the store room suddenly died plunging it into darkness.

“Get down!” Mitchell shouted as he tackled the dufus behind some crates moments before energy bolts filled the air around them tearing into the walls and the various storage containers in a storm of sparks and pyrotechnics.

Cipher deftly blocked another hard hit by his enemies device with his own before quickly pushing off and unleashing a series of unguided medium powered bolts to force him to fall back a bit to evade them. A moment later he jinked left and out of the line of a beam blast from his third opponent situated on the ground below him before spinning on his center of gravity to zoom head first toward the ground and out of the line of fire.

Flipping right side up again as he landed between a set of buildings he felt a presence racing up behind him… He whirled Blue Eagle around to rest on his right shoulder facing backward into the face of his would be attacker several feet behind him with a fair sized charge already held at its tip. The man froze in surprise and Cipher cut loose the low level buster spell forcing the enemy fighter to erect a barrier to blunt the beam that erupted from the weapon but despite this defense he was still hurled away by the hit and slammed through the outer wall of a nearby building and probably out of the fight.

Predictably his other two opponents were racing in for another attack and nearly upon him. The approaching pair summoned up a storm of magic projectiles and set them loose on him. He quickly took back to the air scooting backward and around a building before leveling out and accelerating away shaking a fair number of the bolts as they impacted the ground or the building and forcing most of the others to make radical coruse changes to avoid the same fate and letting him open the distance.

Most of these guys where not very good pretty much the rabble you’d expect from pirates, if rather numerous. Even so checking his tactical displays it looked like their forces had already incapacitated the majority of the defenders and in a few more minutes it would just be mopping up and they could move to assist Mitchell and the others inside.

“This doesn’t make any kind of sense…” Felix mumbled as he surveyed the area ahead through a set of field glasses from the second floor of an administrative building. From this position he could see the bombardment mage mostly concealed in some cover toward the outskirts of the base, but he also saw not a single guard in sight. “Who the hell leaves a bombardment specialist hanging out in the open like that?”

“No one smart, so there’s a 99% chance it’s a trap but I must admit I can’t tell what kind exactly.” Pixy replied with a frown as he also surveyed the scene. “Normally I’d advise hanging back and watching some more…” The mage powered up and fired off another salvo of projectiles into the distance. “But time isn’t really something we have at the moment I think we’re just going to have to spring it.”

“So ‘blunder into the enemy trap’ is your plan?” Felix questioned skeptically.

“Knowing it’s a trap is half the battle.”

“Which stills leaves about 50% of the battle to fight and 50% is plenty of room for things to go terribly, terribly wrong.”

“Don’t worry about I’m going to spring it, you just need to cover me.”

“Yeah, yeah, fine but don’t come blaming me if you get fucked up!”

”I’m going to try and get closer stay here and wait for my signal.” Pixy replied ignoring the remark as he rose and headed for the door.

“What’s the signal?” Felix asked idly as he continued to observe the scene.

“When stuff start’s exploding, target the bomber first.”

“Should be hard to miss then.” Felix replied flatly.

Pixy moved out heading back down the stairs and out the back of the building and skirting its edge heading east. He’d already planned his route after looking over the area from above as he neared the corner he spotted his first way point. He passed at the corner and quickly ducked his head out to check it was clear before quickly sprint across a short open area and sliding in behind a low wall that ran toward his target at a slight angle he began moving along it as quickly as he could in the hunched position he had to maintain to keep behind it.

Felix watched him move from his elevated perch for a few seconds before shouldering his weapon and focusing on the target area. He quickly noted the range to several land marks and mentally catalogued them so he wouldn’t need to waste time trying to gauge them later, at the same time he kept scanning the area trying to figure out what they might be up against.

Pixy halted at the end of the wall and got down on his belly to begin crawling hand over hand into some tall grass. Apparently pirates weren’t big on grounds keeping as the stuff grew totally out of control all over perimeter of the base. As he neared the edge of it he found himself within 50 meters of his target. He gripped Morgan in his left hand and then bounced to his feet and charged <Explosion, zerborsten Schuss! > Morgan drawled as it loaded a cartridge and formed a large glowing sphere of energy which Pixy smacked like a baseball with the blade sending hurtling toward the mage.

The target reacted quickly throwing up a barrier against which projectile smashed into and exploded with terrific force shattering it and hurling the mage away almost 50 meters. Pixy whirled though as a barely visible blur slammed into him form the side and the sounds of grinding metal was heard as he blocked his new assailants first strike. Even at point blank range he could barely feel a magic presence from his enemy, but the visual cloak fell away revealing an armored and helmeted man wielding a broadsword. His armor bore some odd markings in a writing he didn’t recognize but other then that was a flat black from head to toe. The pair pushed off each other and bounced a few meters to stare each other down after a few seconds Pixy nodded in acknowledgement of his opponent who swiftly charged again.

The bombardment mage meanwhile was reeling from the hit but had regained his feet now and begun charging a spell, but he was targeting Pixy and thus showing his back to Felix. Felix had him lined up dead in his sights and was preparing to fire when a flash to his right caught his attention. He dove forward out of the window he was looking out of as a beam tore into his former position blowing apart the corner of the building and showering the area with debris and smoke. Felix didn’t quite manage to arrest his fall completely and impacted the ground fairly hard busting open his nose in the process.

Shaking it off he quickly got moving dragging along the ground for several feet before getting into the air, but he had one thing to do before he could get payback on this new chump for the bloody nose. He popped up to a higher altitude and drew a bead, the enemy mage was still focused on Pixy and had his back to him. <Load Cartridge, Shield Breaker!> A pair of large shells where quickly punted from his device a moment before the spell discharged. The beam sliced across the distance between him and his target at a blinding speed and speared the enemy mage straight through the gut dropping him to the ground like a sack of bricks.

He dove back for the ground just as another high powered yellow beam sliced past him, he saw roughly where it came from and sticking low the ground began maneuvering toward the area.

“Damn it Carter where the hell are they?!” Mitchell shouted angrily as he wildly fired back in the general direction the fire seemed to be coming from. Alan was focusing on keeping a barrier over their cover keeping it intact and effective against the barrage.

“I can’t tell they must have some sort of stealth system!” She shouted back furiously working on a holographic window.

“You think! You’re a genius right so do something about it!” He yelled back.

“Well if I reverse the polarity and then…” She began thoughtfully.

“How long?!” Mitchell cut her off.

“5 minutes, maybe.”

Mitchell frowned he didn’t really think they had five minutes, the fire seemed to be spreading out now and he expected they’d be flanked shortly. Then he suddenly noted what he was hiding next too and a preverbal light bulb appeared over his head. A few seconds later a metal can went sailing out of their hiding place toward the area he expected the enemy to be located. Said enemies probably thinking it was some kind of bomb swiftly blew it apart with energy blasts… and spilled bright white paint all over the place including onto a formally invisible silhouette. A moment later the robot was blasted by a hail of return fire that overloaded its shield and toppled it to the ground in pieces.

“Ha! Stupid improvsioation-1 High technology-zip!” Mitchell crowed triumphantly before being forced to scramble back down by a hail of fire from the remaining and still quite invisible attackers.

I have the entire first few chapters pretty much roughed out, but writing out the battle scenes is pretty time consuming as I often go over them several times (and I'm easily distracted...) to make sure they clear and fairly descriptive, the curse of being a bit of a perfectionist in such things. Only a tiny bit of space combat in this tidbit as it focuses more on the ground battle. It’s shorter then some of my pieces too at under 3,000 words, but I’m considering perhaps writing in smaller blocks from now on as sometimes banging out those huge longcat posts can start to get a little tiring.

I think this section probably has about 5 to 6 thousand mores words in it, maybe a bit more if I get on a real descriptive roll at some point and then we slow right back down into allot of dialogue and explanation and stuff as they try to figure out who the hell these guys were and are. Also might want to hijack a few OCs and CCs at that stage too, but I’ll discuss that when the time comes.

Now THIS is warfare! The situation is perfectly dangerous to set the tension levels high! Plus the descriptions are good enough to even allow one to imagine the scene clearly.

“AHAHA—ggah!” He stopped short, however, and look down, an expression of sheer terror slowly spreading across his face. Ignatius’s arm was apparently submerged to the elbow in the body of the cyborg, a glowing light surrounding the limb instead of blood. Ignatius looked up slowly.
“You’re… probably right. My body… probably won’t… be able to handle it. I’m… probably going… to die here. But before I go…” Ignatius finally looked Satsuhito in the eyes, and the last thing the madman ever saw were the eyes of his opponent, a glowing green spiral reflected in each orb.
“I’M TAKING MY BROTHER BACK!!!” Ignatius roared, and ripped out Satsuhito’s linker core.

Mitchell and his team where making good progress through the base thus far only having encountered a few weak drones and easily dispatched goons. The doors had proved slightly more a hassle but Carter had gotten past most of them easily enough, as she was going right now. She disconnected her device from the doors controls and signaled it was opened. She performed a quick scan of the area and located three mobile contacts on the other side.

Mitchell quickly ordered the team to stack up on either side of the door with Teal’c and Alan taking point. He opted to bring the kid since he felt a second melee fighter would be more useful in these tight corridors then a support caster like Daniel who could help better by holding down the fort outside. So far his planned seemed to be panning out the kid did exactly what he was told and when and seemed competent enough.

With the team in position Teal’c palmed a stun grenade and nodded at Alan who hit the door control. The barrier slid open and the grenade was quickly tossed inside were moments later a blinding flash and deafening roar was heard quickly followed by several voices confused shouting. The team piled in within moments Teal’c went left, Alan went right, and Mitchell the third man inside took the center. Alan and Teal’c both proceeded to
close in and savagely maul the hapless guards with their devices; Mitchell housed the third man with a stream of bolts knocking him to the ground and out cold.

“Well this doesn’t seem so tough.” Alan remarked happily as his target slumped to the ground after a through pummeling via his device.

“Don’t say stuff like that!” Mitchell chastised him wincing.

“Why not— hey what happened to the lights?” Alan pondered aloud as all the lights in the store room suddenly died plunging it into darkness.

“Get down!” Mitchell shouted as he tackled the dufus behind some crates moments before energy bolts filled the air around them tearing into the walls and the various storage containers in a storm of sparks and pyrotechnics.

Cipher deftly blocked another hard hit by his enemies device with his own before quickly pushing off and unleashing a series of unguided medium powered bolts to force him to fall back a bit to evade them. A moment later he jinked left and out of the line of a beam blast from his third opponent situated on the ground below him before spinning on his center of gravity to zoom head first toward the ground and out of the line of fire.

Flipping right side up again as he landed between a set of buildings he felt a presence racing up behind him… He whirled Blue Eagle around to rest on his right shoulder facing backward into the face of his would be attacker several feet behind him with a fair sized charge already held at its tip. The man froze in surprise and Cipher cut loose the low level buster spell forcing the enemy fighter to erect a barrier to blunt the beam that erupted from the weapon but despite this defense he was still hurled away by the hit and slammed through the outer wall of a nearby building and probably out of the fight.

Predictably his other two opponents were racing in for another attack and nearly upon him. The approaching pair summoned up a storm of magic projectiles and set them loose on him. He quickly took back to the air scooting backward and around a building before leveling out and accelerating away shaking a fair number of the bolts as they impacted the ground or the building and forcing most of the others to make radical coruse changes to avoid the same fate and letting him open the distance.

Most of these guys where not very good pretty much the rabble you’d expect from pirates, if rather numerous. Even so checking his tactical displays it looked like their forces had already incapacitated the majority of the defenders and in a few more minutes it would just be mopping up and they could move to assist Mitchell and the others inside.

From this position he could see the bombardment mage mostly concealed in some cover toward the outskirts of the base, but he also saw not a single guard in sight. “Who the hell leaves a bombardment specialist hanging out in the open like that?”

“No one smart, so there’s a 99% chance it’s a trap but I must admit I can’t tell what kind exactly.” Pixy replied with a frown as he also surveyed the scene. “Normally I’d advise hanging back and watching some more…” The mage powered up and fired off another salvo of projectiles into the distance. “But time isn’t really something we have at the moment I think we’re just going to have to spring it.”

“So ‘blunder into the enemy trap’ is your plan?” Felix questioned skeptically.

“Knowing it’s a trap is half the battle.”

“Which stills leaves about 50% of the battle to fight and 50% is plenty of room for things to go terribly, terribly wrong.”

“Don’t worry about I’m going to spring it, you just need to cover me.”

“Yeah, yeah, fine but don’t come blaming me if you get fucked up!”

”I’m going to try and get closer stay here and wait for my signal.” Pixy replied ignoring the remark as he rose and headed for the door.

“What’s the signal?” Felix asked idly as he continued to observe the scene.

“When stuff start’s exploding, target the bomber first.”

“Should be hard to miss then.” Felix replied flatly.

He’d already planned his route after looking over the area from above as he neared the corner he spotted his first way point. He passed at the corner and quickly ducked his head out to check it was clear before quickly sprint across a short open area and sliding in behind a low wall that ran toward his target at a slight angle he began moving along it as quickly as he could in the hunched position he had to maintain to keep behind it.

Felix watched him move from his elevated perch for a few seconds before shouldering his weapon and focusing on the target area. He quickly noted the range to several land marks and mentally catalogued them so he wouldn’t need to waste time trying to gauge them later, at the same time he kept scanning the area trying to figure out what they might be up against.

Pixy halted at the end of the wall and got down on his belly to begin crawling hand over hand into some tall grass. Apparently pirates weren’t big on grounds keeping as the stuff grew totally out of control all over perimeter of the base. As he neared the edge of it he found himself within 50 meters of his target. He gripped Morgan in his left hand and then bounced to his feet and charged <Explosion, zerborsten Schuss! > Morgan drawled as it loaded a cartridge and formed a large glowing sphere of energy which Pixy smacked like a baseball with the blade sending hurtling toward the mage.

The target reacted quickly throwing up a barrier against which projectile smashed into and exploded with terrific force shattering it and hurling the mage away almost 50 meters. Pixy whirled though as a barely visible blur slammed into him form the side and the sounds of grinding metal was heard as he blocked his new assailants first strike. Even at point blank range he could barely feel a magic presence from his enemy, but the visual cloak fell away revealing an armored and helmeted man wielding a broadsword. His armor bore some odd markings in a writing he didn’t recognize but other then that was a flat black from head to toe. The pair pushed off each other and bounced a few meters to stare each other down after a few seconds Pixy nodded in acknowledgement of his opponent who swiftly charged again.

The bombardment mage meanwhile was reeling from the hit but had regained his feet now and begun charging a spell, but he was targeting Pixy and thus showing his back to Felix. Felix had him lined up dead in his sights and was preparing to fire when a flash to his right caught his attention. He dove forward out of the window he was looking out of as a beam tore into his former position blowing apart the corner of the building and showering the area with debris and smoke. Felix didn’t quite manage to arrest his fall completely and impacted the ground fairly hard busting open his nose in the process.

Shaking it off he quickly got moving dragging along the ground for several feet before getting into the air, but he had one thing to do before he could get payback on this new chump for the bloody nose. He popped up to a higher altitude and drew a bead, the enemy mage was still focused on Pixy and had his back to him. <Load Cartridge, Shield Breaker!> A pair of large shells where quickly punted from his device a moment before the spell discharged. The beam sliced across the distance between him and his target at a blinding speed and speared the enemy mage straight through the gut dropping him to the ground like a sack of bricks.

He dove back for the ground just as another high powered yellow beam sliced past him, he saw roughly where it came from and sticking low the ground began maneuvering toward the area.

“Damn it Carter where the hell are they?!” Mitchell shouted angrily as he wildly fired back in the general direction the fire seemed to be coming from. Alan was focusing on keeping a barrier over their cover keeping it intact and effective against the barrage.

“I can’t tell they must have some sort of stealth system!” She shouted back furiously working on a holographic window.

“You think! You’re a genius right so do something about it!” He yelled back.

“Well if I reverse the polarity and then…” She began thoughtfully.

“How long?!” Mitchell cut her off.

“5 minutes, maybe.”

Mitchell frowned he didn’t really think they had five minutes, the fire seemed to be spreading out now and he expected they’d be flanked shortly. Then he suddenly noted what he was hiding next too and a preverbal light bulb appeared over his head. A few seconds later a metal can went sailing out of their hiding place toward the area he expected the enemy to be located. Said enemies probably thinking it was some kind of bomb swiftly blew it apart with energy blasts… and spilled bright white paint all over the place including onto a formally invisible silhouette. A moment later the robot was blasted by a hail of return fire that overloaded its shield and toppled it to the ground in pieces.

“Ha! Stupid improvsioation-1 High technology-zip!” Mitchell crowed triumphantly before being forced to scramble back down by a hail of fire from the remaining and still quite invisible attackers.

I have the entire first few chapters pretty much roughed out, but writing out the battle scenes is pretty time consuming as I often go over them several times (and I'm easily distracted...) to make sure they clear and fairly descriptive, the curse of being a bit of a perfectionist in such things. Only a tiny bit of space combat in this tidbit as it focuses more on the ground battle. It’s shorter then some of my pieces too at under 3,000 words, but I’m considering perhaps writing in smaller blocks from now on as sometimes banging out those huge longcat posts can start to get a little tiring.

I think this section probably has about 5 to 6 thousand mores words in it, maybe a bit more if I get on a real descriptive roll at some point and then we slow right back down into allot of dialogue and explanation and stuff as they try to figure out who the hell these guys were and are. Also might want to hijack a few OCs and CCs at that stage too, but I’ll discuss that when the time comes.

The fighting was epic but I didn't like the ending, the fight was the only reason i gave the last episode a 6, previous episodes were much better for story and content imo,(8,11)

Excess energy washed over and around the shields creeping aft until the hull confirming shield was glowing a near blinding white from almost stem to stern as it desperately tried to redirect and radiate away the massive amount of energy it was absorbing across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. It nearly dead it, but as the beam died away the shields flickered and collapsed across the entire ship the last vestiges of the beam tore into the ship slagging the ships starboard engine nacelle, the ship was now effectively a cripple with only one engine and minimal steering.

This made it all two easy for both Railguns to lock on and strike the ship dead on the nose. The impact was again horrific and the vessel reeled under the hit her nose thrown nearly 30 degrees to port by the slightly off center impact that destroyed a large portion of her bow leaving only an outward facing cone composed of a mess of twisted wreckage where the ships sleek prow had once been.

Still this ship was probably around five to six times the weight of the destroyers and despite the magnitude of the hits it was still fairly intact and had a number of weapon systems remaining. Thus despite the massive damage and it’s almost certain doom the cruiser brought every still intact gun it had online and returned fire. No escape pods or other attempt to evacuate were noted and so it seemed the crew was determined to fight to the death no matter how futile it was.

Well, it's AT LEAST 300 years, most likely, since it's apparently the Warrior Age for Ancient Belka, at the time of the Saints. Even the Cradle seems to be pretty lacking in information for records only around 300 years old.

I never pinned a date, I merely mentioned that it's at least over 250 years since their death in the AFTER Saga piece, with Saga telling the rest of his knights based on what little information he hacked in the Infinity Library.

IMHO, the English Voice Acting for Disgaea 2 sounded more right.
Midorikawa didn't seem particularly fond of voicing Adell (main male character) with such a drab tone.
And Rozalin, (Female Main Character. Also voiced by Yukari Tamura!) only gave a good time to listen to her voice when she was emotional.

I started with one or two episodes of the anime, and loved the Japanese Laharhl. The English one... sounds more like a little brat then a young potentional overlord.

English Etna is cool with me, but I fear for Flonne. English voice actors always seem to screw up the blonde's.

Hmm, this pops up a new issue. Were the incidents reffered to in Saga der Saga the final fall of the Belkan empire? Concidering there is no mention of the Seiou nor the Cradle, I would have pinned it before said fall.

If so, then I might need to re-write a lot of the ideas for the Legends of Ancient Belka.

Chapter Two:
The massive blue energy beam lanced out and slammed into the cruisers reinforced forward shields and barriers like a freight train. Excess energy washed over and around the shields creeping aft until the hull confirming shield was glowing a near blinding white from almost stem to stern as it desperately tried to redirect and radiate away the massive amount of energy it was absorbing across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. It nearly dead it, but as the beam died away the shields flickered and collapsed across the entire ship the last vestiges of the beam tore into the ship slagging the ships starboard engine nacelle, the ship was now effectively a cripple with only one engine and minimal steering.

This made it all two easy for both Railguns to lock on and strike the ship dead on the nose. The impact was again horrific and the vessel reeled under the hit her nose thrown nearly 30 degrees to port by the slightly off center impact that destroyed a large portion of her bow leaving only an outward facing cone composed of a mess of twisted wreckage where the ships sleek prow had once been.

Still this ship was probably around five to six times the weight of the destroyers and despite the magnitude of the hits it was still fairly intact and had a number of weapon systems remaining. Thus despite the massive damage and it’s almost certain doom the cruiser brought every still intact gun it had online and returned fire. No escape pods or other attempt to evacuate were noted and so it seemed the crew was determined to fight to the death no matter how futile it was.

“I’m never working as a PMC again, I’m done with fighting other peoples’ wars, the money isn’t worth…. I said all that didn’t I?”

“Something to that effect yes.” Pixy agreed.

“So how the FUCK did I end up on a planet in the ass end of no where getting shot at by a bunch of killer robots and mages!?” Felix cursed as he popped his device up over the top of the thick concrete wall he was hiding behind and fired a couple energy blasts timed to detonate near the enemy position. The shots blasted some chunks out of a couple of structures they where hiding but didn’t seem to do much else.

“Probably because you suck at contact negotiations… oh and incoming!”

Both of them quickly raised barriers as a barrage of high powered magic projectiles arced out of the sky and slammed down in their general area demolishing several buildings and obscuring the entire area in smoke from the blasts as well as hurling them to the ground despite their shields.

“That fucking bombardment mage is getting annoying.” Felix mumbled as he quickly regained his feet.

“Agreed, I think it’s time to do something about him.” Pixy replied darkly.

“We don’t have orders to go hunting him.” Felix remarked casually.

“When has that ever stopped us?” Pixy shot back gamely.

“Let’s roll.”

Seconds later both of them shot out of the thinning smoke cloud and straight past the surprised enemy forces skimming the ground at an altitude of about 5 feet and sticking behind terrain to cover their movements as they sped in the general direction most of the indirect fire seemed to be coming from.

Mitchell and his team where making good progress through the base thus far only having encountered a few weak drones and easily dispatched goons. The doors had proved slightly more a hassle but Carter had gotten past most of them easily enough, as she was going right now. She disconnected her device from the doors controls and signaled it was opened. She performed a quick scan of the area and located three mobile contacts on the other side.

Mitchell quickly ordered the team to stack up on either side of the door with Teal’c and Alan taking point. He opted to bring the kid since he felt a second melee fighter would be more useful in these tight corridors then a support caster like Daniel who could help better by holding down the fort outside. So far his planned seemed to be panning out the kid did exactly what he was told and when and seemed competent enough.

With the team in position Teal’c palmed a stun grenade and nodded at Alan who hit the door control. The barrier slid open and the grenade was quickly tossed inside were moments later a blinding flash and deafening roar was heard quickly followed by several voices confused shouting. The team piled in within moments Teal’c went left, Alan went right, and Mitchell the third man inside took the center. Alan and Teal’c both proceeded to
close in and savagely maul the hapless guards with their devices; Mitchell housed the third man with a stream of bolts knocking him to the ground and out cold.

“Well this doesn’t seem so tough.” Alan remarked happily as his target slumped to the ground after a through pummeling via his device.

“Don’t say stuff like that!” Mitchell chastised him wincing.

“Why not— hey what happened to the lights?” Alan pondered aloud as all the lights in the store room suddenly died plunging it into darkness.

“Get down!” Mitchell shouted as he tackled the dufus behind some crates moments before energy bolts filled the air around them tearing into the walls and the various storage containers in a storm of sparks and pyrotechnics.

Cipher deftly blocked another hard hit by his enemies device with his own before quickly pushing off and unleashing a series of unguided medium powered bolts to force him to fall back a bit to evade them. A moment later he jinked left and out of the line of a beam blast from his third opponent situated on the ground below him before spinning on his center of gravity to zoom head first toward the ground and out of the line of fire.

Flipping right side up again as he landed between a set of buildings he felt a presence racing up behind him… He whirled Blue Eagle around to rest on his right shoulder facing backward into the face of his would be attacker several feet behind him with a fair sized charge already held at its tip. The man froze in surprise and Cipher cut loose the low level buster spell forcing the enemy fighter to erect a barrier to blunt the beam that erupted from the weapon but despite this defense he was still hurled away by the hit and slammed through the outer wall of a nearby building and probably out of the fight.

Predictably his other two opponents were racing in for another attack and nearly upon him. The approaching pair summoned up a storm of magic projectiles and set them loose on him. He quickly took back to the air scooting backward and around a building before leveling out and accelerating away shaking a fair number of the bolts as they impacted the ground or the building and forcing most of the others to make radical coruse changes to avoid the same fate and letting him open the distance.

Most of these guys where not very good pretty much the rabble you’d expect from pirates, if rather numerous. Even so checking his tactical displays it looked like their forces had already incapacitated the majority of the defenders and in a few more minutes it would just be mopping up and they could move to assist Mitchell and the others inside.

From this position he could see the bombardment mage mostly concealed in some cover toward the outskirts of the base, but he also saw not a single guard in sight. “Who the hell leaves a bombardment specialist hanging out in the open like that?”

“No one smart, so there’s a 99% chance it’s a trap but I must admit I can’t tell what kind exactly.” Pixy replied with a frown as he also surveyed the scene. “Normally I’d advise hanging back and watching some more…” The mage powered up and fired off another salvo of projectiles into the distance. “But time isn’t really something we have at the moment I think we’re just going to have to spring it.”

“So ‘blunder into the enemy trap’ is your plan?” Felix questioned skeptically.

“Knowing it’s a trap is half the battle.”

“Which stills leaves about 50% of the battle to fight and 50% is plenty of room for things to go terribly, terribly wrong.”

“Don’t worry about I’m going to spring it, you just need to cover me.”

“Yeah, yeah, fine but don’t come blaming me if you get fucked up!”

”I’m going to try and get closer stay here and wait for my signal.” Pixy replied ignoring the remark as he rose and headed for the door.

“What’s the signal?” Felix asked idly as he continued to observe the scene.

“When stuff start’s exploding, target the bomber first.”

“Should be hard to miss then.” Felix replied flatly.

Pixy moved out heading back down the stairs and out the back of the building and skirting its edge heading east. He’d already planned his route after looking over the area from above as he neared the corner he spotted his first way point. He passed at the corner and quickly ducked his head out to check it was clear before quickly sprint across a short open area and sliding in behind a low wall that ran toward his target at a slight angle he began moving along it as quickly as he could in the hunched position he had to maintain to keep behind it.

Felix watched him move from his elevated perch for a few seconds before shouldering his weapon and focusing on the target area. He quickly noted the range to several land marks and mentally catalogued them so he wouldn’t need to waste time trying to gauge them later, at the same time he kept scanning the area trying to figure out what they might be up against.

Pixy halted at the end of the wall and got down on his belly to begin crawling hand over hand into some tall grass. Apparently pirates weren’t big on grounds keeping as the stuff grew totally out of control all over perimeter of the base. As he neared the edge of it he found himself within 50 meters of his target. He gripped Morgan in his left hand and then bounced to his feet and charged <Explosion, zerborsten Schuss! > Morgan drawled as it loaded a cartridge and formed a large glowing sphere of energy which Pixy smacked like a baseball with the blade sending hurtling toward the mage.

The target reacted quickly throwing up a barrier against which projectile smashed into and exploded with terrific force shattering it and hurling the mage away almost 50 meters. Pixy whirled though as a barely visible blur slammed into him form the side and the sounds of grinding metal was heard as he blocked his new assailants first strike. Even at point blank range he could barely feel a magic presence from his enemy, but the visual cloak fell away revealing an armored and helmeted man wielding a broadsword. His armor bore some odd markings in a writing he didn’t recognize but other then that was a flat black from head to toe. The pair pushed off each other and bounced a few meters to stare each other down after a few seconds Pixy nodded in acknowledgement of his opponent who swiftly charged again.

The bombardment mage meanwhile was reeling from the hit but had regained his feet now and begun charging a spell, but he was targeting Pixy and thus showing his back to Felix. Felix had him lined up dead in his sights and was preparing to fire when a flash to his right caught his attention. He dove forward out of the window he was looking out of as a beam tore into his former position blowing apart the corner of the building and showering the area with debris and smoke. Felix didn’t quite manage to arrest his fall completely and impacted the ground fairly hard busting open his nose in the process.

Shaking it off he quickly got moving dragging along the ground for several feet before getting into the air, but he had one thing to do before he could get payback on this new chump for the bloody nose. He popped up to a higher altitude and drew a bead, the enemy mage was still focused on Pixy and had his back to him. <Load Cartridge, Shield Breaker!> A pair of large shells where quickly punted from his device a moment before the spell discharged. The beam sliced across the distance between him and his target at a blinding speed and speared the enemy mage straight through the gut dropping him to the ground like a sack of bricks.

He dove back for the ground just as another high powered yellow beam sliced past him, he saw roughly where it came from and sticking low the ground began maneuvering toward the area.

“Damn it Carter where the hell are they?!” Mitchell shouted angrily as he wildly fired back in the general direction the fire seemed to be coming from. Alan was focusing on keeping a barrier over their cover keeping it intact and effective against the barrage.

“I can’t tell they must have some sort of stealth system!” She shouted back furiously working on a holographic window.

“You think! You’re a genius right so do something about it!” He yelled back.

“Well if I reverse the polarity and then…” She began thoughtfully.

“How long?!” Mitchell cut her off.

“5 minutes, maybe.”

Mitchell frowned he didn’t really think they had five minutes, the fire seemed to be spreading out now and he expected they’d be flanked shortly. Then he suddenly noted what he was hiding next too and a preverbal light bulb appeared over his head. A few seconds later a metal can went sailing out of their hiding place toward the area he expected the enemy to be located. Said enemies probably thinking it was some kind of bomb swiftly blew it apart with energy blasts… and spilled bright white paint all over the place including onto a formally invisible silhouette. A moment later the robot was blasted by a hail of return fire that overloaded its shield and toppled it to the ground in pieces.

“Ha! Stupid improvsioation-1 High technology-zip!” Mitchell crowed triumphantly before being forced to scramble back down by a hail of fire from the remaining and still quite invisible attackers.

I have the entire first few chapters pretty much roughed out, but writing out the battle scenes is pretty time consuming as I often go over them several times (and I'm easily distracted...) to make sure they clear and fairly descriptive, the curse of being a bit of a perfectionist in such things. Only a tiny bit of space combat in this tidbit as it focuses more on the ground battle. It’s shorter then some of my pieces too at under 3,000 words, but I’m considering perhaps writing in smaller blocks from now on as sometimes banging out those huge longcat posts can start to get a little tiring.

I think this section probably has about 5 to 6 thousand mores words in it, maybe a bit more if I get on a real descriptive roll at some point and then we slow right back down into allot of dialogue and explanation and stuff as they try to figure out who the hell these guys were and are. Also might want to hijack a few OCs and CCs at that stage too, but I’ll discuss that when the time comes.

A very nice piece here, and a fine example of warfare- well-described, well-paced, very good all-round- and still retains his usual self even in the heat of battle.

And, about all this talk of GL 27, I found it be quite possibly the most immensely EPIC mecha show this year, if not beyond that. And the final fight just shows how WIN Lagann is by withstanding the might of 2 UNIVERSES.

I wonder if there is a chance for a second season, with Gimmy and Darry now being the pilots of the Lagann, and Simon being a traveling wanderer- maybe the premise will be that he'll return as a second Kamina...even though, technically, he already was.

And what do you think the chances are of GL ever being in SRW? I would like it very much, and it's an interesting possibility indeed.

Well, not really. Saga der Saga's empire's fall was one part of Belka, but not the main Belka regions which is in the Belka mainlands. Note that Saga's civil war took place in an island nation off the coast of Ancient Mid-childa mainland. Saga later went on to the mainland and it was there that he passed on the Tome to his successor... If the Tome is around 300~350 years old, I presume that's the time when it occured but the fall itself is different. Since it was an age of Warriors, I akin it's most likely similar to the Warring States period, with different regions of their owns warring for their own supremacy, only to be united under the flag of the Saint King in a later future until...well, it fell again.

Besides, I have some ideas for a possible Ancient Belka Story as well, this time taking place in the Saint King's time, with my own OCs. Of course, it's still very raw of a draft, because with little details on what happened in the past, it's hard to construct a connective story than with the Tome.

As do I. Though I have yet to start a rough draft. I have the heroes (Alistina and Saint King Sakura will feature, as will a mature Vivio) but I have yet to create a propper antagonist for the fall.

I want to get the basics of the Primarchs done first before I head into this. I'm planning to re-write it a tad (the connection between the Blau Gotten is a bit too vague and abstract to use) but it should be done pretty soon.

I have the entire first few chapters pretty much roughed out, but writing out the battle scenes is pretty time consuming as I often go over them several times (and I'm easily distracted...) to make sure they clear and fairly descriptive, the curse of being a bit of a perfectionist in such things. Only a tiny bit of space combat in this tidbit as it focuses more on the ground battle. It’s shorter then some of my pieces too at under 3,000 words, but I’m considering perhaps writing in smaller blocks from now on as sometimes banging out those huge longcat posts can start to get a little tiring.

I think this section probably has about 5 to 6 thousand mores words in it, maybe a bit more if I get on a real descriptive roll at some point and then we slow right back down into allot of dialogue and explanation and stuff as they try to figure out who the hell these guys were and are. Also might want to hijack a few OCs and CCs at that stage too, but I’ll discuss that when the time comes.

Just wanna add a few points where I think there might be some misunderstanding:

- Sakura isn't known to the Primarchs as Sanckt Kaiser, only Seiou herself. To them, and everyone else, she is Canoness of the Adeptae Belkarum.

- Despite that, Sakura IS very close to the Primarchs, especially the Eves. She also is friends with Warmaster Yuki, the Mistress of Time, Astronomicator Itsuki and of course General Sugita. (Titles as they appear in proposed fanon)

- The General is often greeted by some of the Eves and Odd Numbers as Pater, "Father" in English, as it is a title carrying much respect. Some scholars have not ruled out a secondary and more blasphemious reading into the significance of such an address, especially with the existence of the Odds...

- Only Sakura and Seiou's merry band of musicians know that the Seiou and the Blau Glotten are the same person.

- The early lay Belka think that Blau Glotten is one of the Sanckt Kaiser's "Angels", even when there's no such unit or personnel. Scholars speculate that this may have arisen from some of the Eves naming their chapters after Angels that appear in the Script.

This is about the extra trivia that popped up in my head.

In a FUBAR situation, one which would require that kind of power to fix, there is no way there'll be a Destroyer with 90% health intact.

And because of his incorrigible character, he is BEYOND haughty. If he goes serious at the beginning of a fight, it would mean that he acknowledges the enemy as an equal and a threat, and that is the last thing he wants to do
