Why is the name not Crystal?
I refuse to believe random commands generated the name Red.

I watched the name be selected. It was quite weird. They were so precise with how they chose the letters and how quickly they got to "Ok". I figured it would take at least a minute or two, not 10~20 seconds. Hmm. Maybe it's just the internet working in mysterious ways?

I'd rather they have gone with Gold or Ethan heh.

But anyways, I hope they keep Totodile. Water starters <3

They probably choose the "red" option in the original play rather than entering a name as you could select a default name, or enter your own in the original gen (I forgot if this applies to any of the others).

Also Lazorgator just because leer looks cool

That was extremely weird.
After 1 hour of game play it automatically switches into democracy, then after 1-2 minutes it goes back into anarchy?
I liked the previous anarchy/democracy vote more.

Forced democracy at every hour is strange. I prefer the voting system so "we" can chose when we want it

Maybe Twitch did it beforehand, or not enough people were spamming for it to change. Besides, the whole final battle with Red wouldn't be inspired if you simply changed the name.

Well, you have to also remember that during name selection, there weren't thousands of people fighting for control all at once since TPP wasn't viral at that time. And I guess there was some luck involved as well.

Agreed it is weird, but this whole "twitchplays" thing is an experimental thing, so it's kinda of expected that some of the things will change.

Edited the OP with the following stuff,

Update2:
TPP continues onward with Pokemon Crystal after beating Pokemon Red. The mechanic remain the same with one major exception that Democracy mode will automatically kick in every hour to avoid mode spam throughout the gameplay.

Heh frankly this's quite fun (yet pain) to watch the gameplay, Internet surely has many types of things and events.

Will keep tracking on the progress of the gameplay. Pretty sure that they will spent lot of time on the 4th Johto gym & the Ice Cave, also the temple where Ho-oh at(?).

To be honest I think a lot of people have lost interest in it now. It doesn't seem nearly as entertaining as Pokemon Red but then I guess that was mainly entertaining due to the novelty, the hilarity of the PC and the religion that spawned - None of which are present in Crystal.

More people are familiar with RB than with GSC, which probably also has something to do with it.

Damn it , democracy clock hit zero and then reset again , without having a vote .
Poor Lazorgator .

Lol , the game went offline for 5 mins and everyone started a huge riot , Lazorgator reset back to lv 28 , i doubt he will manage to evolve this time .
