@eras: From how I see it you have a complex against characters who are "the chosen one". Just my faulty profiling.

Nothing is normal about a civilian handing a hardened soldier their asses to them on a silver platter. Even if you reason that the guy is an athlete or works out or takes martial arts lessons.

Yeah, if they hit arm or leg, you MIGHT survive lacking that part, assuming you didn't die from hydrostatic shock and rapid blood loss. This is why 50 BMG always means OHK in games.

@ Age
Whatever, hard to talk stuff if you're being vague about everything.

Not really. Often the chosen one's themselves are actually normal's themselves. Look at Sam from Transformers or the main character(s) of Eternal Darkness. They are undoubtedly the main character's, but their power levels are no better than the average human.

Side note - The Civilian thing was just an example The only way that ciuld happen is if they sneak attacked explosive them or something.

@ Senpai - Will it tear off limbs?

.5 rifles don't cut body parts off. They blow them off. Large calibers like that are normally called anti-material such that they are used to snipe weakspots in tank armors and generally for de-mining a mine field.

Sam wasn't really a chosen one by my book. He was just this kid who was caught in trouble then he thought. "I found these guys so I'll take responsibility.". Some heroes aren't chosen, they choose to be.

If it was normal lead rounds, it will crush limb into torn off gibs. If armor piercing, then it'll punch a big hole on said limb clean. If it's a combined munition, then there's nothing left but burnt pieces of said limbs.

They're the chosen one's as far as I'm concerned. We can argue semantics, but their actions make them chosen whether they believe so or not.

@ Senpai - What about rebar through the leg.

I am talking about guile hero....

It is vague because I don't know how to write one...

To be honest, such a character take a skilled writer to write...

Possible, assuming it doesn't hit the bone. Not changing the fact that said leg is unsalvageable.

@ Senpai - Is it odd when someone who has maid's and bulter's does their own cooking?

Well, not really, though someone else will comment about it. Especially the ignorant upper class snobs, might chastise you for being 'improper'.

Exception is if it's a mandatory lesson or special occasion, not daily activities.

Why would it be improper? Is it a sin to use your hands now?

No, it's a matter of pride and treating the maids/butlers as assets. Hence I said ignorant snobs.

The comment doesn't always have to be negative, especially form 'ordinary' friends who are mostly stranger to wealthy life style and thus surprised with the ability.

I was wondering since all of the "rich" character's in IS seem to have no trouble cooking. Even Cecilia gets the appearance right

question: how do I show a character's lack of fluency/proficiency in Japanese without resorting to actually using Japanese?

perhaps, I use online translator to translate English to Japanese and back again?

Quote:
"Japanese to the poor?" (I am weak in Japanese)
or censored words?/ misused word (due to limited comprehension?)
Quote:
"I ___ weak ___ Japanese" (I am weak in Japanese)
Quote:
"I is week out Japan" (I am weak in Japanese)
fusion of the two?

Quote:
"I ___week ___ Japan" (I am weak in Japanese)

Have them speak english or whatever their native language is? Just bolden their words and say that they're not speaking Jap.

Speech test:
Bold words are not Japanese:

Quote:
"There are two type of people in this world, people who are jerks to others and people who are jerk to themselves.

How is it?

Edit:
Notice the two is not bold (because the character know how to say "2" in Japanese

Wait, so he speaks partial jap? Why don't you add some random Japanese to his english to make it seem like he's trying?

@ Senpai - Who are the one's in the cast who have a completely rich family/Lineage?

I can do.... from her pov.... (justified by: she can't understand some words hence left them as Japanese).

but how to show from other's pov? Italic and highlight to show that she is using English to substitute words which she does not know?

Quote:
hello world how are you?
Edit: reversed for Japanese for her

you daijoubu? (Are you alright?)
